Many, many years ago a friend of mine received a speeding ticket based on the cops 'visual'. He went to court and asked the judge if he could question the cop on his acute ability to estimate speed. Judge said yes. My friend looked at the cop, raised his arm and dropped it as fast as he could. He looked at the cop and asked "How fast was that?" The cop was dumbfounded and the judge sent my friend on his way!

I'll store that in memory for later use!

They get to know an approximation, and they can tell the speeds in their assigned wards or jurisdictions. It becomes their job.

I didn't get a ticket, but thats not the point. The point is yes...at least in this state, a visual estimation is as good as any other.

but even if you get a ticket, you can still get the pig to court and if your paralegal is halfway competent he should easily cast doubt on the estimated speed and the cop's "superman eyes" thing. i'd imagine unless he acutally used instrumentation to measure your real speed, this "i thought he was going too fast because I can sense it and i have very good vision" thing won't convince a judge.

A lot of cops now are qualified to judge how fast a car is going so they could still give you a ticket if they want.

would it hold up in court? in the absence of any physical evidence of speeding, would a judge still enter a conviction because of a cop's "gut feeling"? can't you just dispute the accuracy of the cop's superman senses for the judge?

So are the cops certified for speed judgeing like their equipement? Dont think so, no one can acurately judge a vehicles speed all the time.

Anyone ever use Trapster and found it to be useful? I downloaded it to my iPhone a couple of days ago, and I'm trying it out. I guess it may be useful in unfamiliar areas to warn you of known speedtraps/red light cameras.

You DO realize a lot of officers are QUALIFIED to do this right? As in there is training and they DO get used to judging? Stop being so biased for once dude you are pathetic.

I dont care about speeding by the way. Its just a fact I am stating.

yeah, pigs are calibrated to measure speed accurately with their super bionic eyes :bowrofl::inoutroflpuke:

i can't wait till one of your "qualified" pigs gives me a speeding ticket based on his "judgement" and the subsequent butt reaming my paralegals will give him in court :bowrofl::inoutroflpuke:

now :gtfo2:

i don't understand the last sentence or what it means, but if you check my profile you know i don't live in nyc. over here, only speed measured by radar or by a cruiser actually tailgating the car and matching speeds and then using the cruiser's speedometer to determine the speeding offence. so in nyc, they dont allow people to dispute traffic tickets in court or what?

You said one of the "pigs" therefore I assume you mean here. Believe me if you get a ticket here it stands. Even if police officers end up somehow getting tickets here....it stands.
