There is a BIG difference between the Nissan and VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) ECU and electronics.

The Nissan ECU programming is done in-house, so EVERYTHING has to be reverse engineered. This is difficult and very time consuming. UpRev and EcuTek are two companies that have done this and offer a good product.

The VAG ECU (or more accurately the "DME") programming is done by Bosch or Siemens and they seem to leak info like a sieve... so EVERYONE can poke around or just buy a kit from RossTech.

Also, since the VAG needs to meet the regulations of MANY countries, it needs a more modular and programmable system. Nissan does this by having a different parts for different countries.

If you want to read trouble codes, any generic OBD scanner will do. If you want to read codes from all the modules, then you will need something like the $14 enhanced diagnostic add-on for OBDFusion (or just buy an OBDLink MX+ and they are included)

If you want to reprogram modules.... well, generally the 370z doesn't support much of that. There are a few timeouts that you can change in the BCM, but nothing as exciting as what you get with a VAG vehicle.

As for downloading a program from a Russian website, that's not something I will ever do.
In my eyes, that is just too risky for my PC and home network.
