Default Oil temp & Mobil oil question

1) I own a 2019 base 370 Z with manual trans. Been looking at threads on oil temps. I live in Florida and it was 98 degrees today. I have seen the water temp gauge right at 220 degrees both in traffic and on the highway. This without any spirited driving. Only have 1,900 miles on the car. Do you think there may be an issue and if so, should the dealer know what to do ???
2) Will be coming up on first oil change, is switching to Mobil 1 beneficial ? Will it let oil run cooler ?
I appreciate any input as this is my first import sports car and I need to learn lots ...

Welcome! This is a great first time sports car.

When it comes to the oil temps, you will NEED a oil cooler, there is no way around this. No excuses can be conjured as to why you do not need one. This car runs hot, so there is no way around this, to add you live in Florida.

I would recommend looking at Z1, Stillen and Fast Intentions Oil coolers. I went with the Z1 19 row oil cooler since I do not track my car and do daily driving and some spirited driving on the highway. The temp gauge never goes above 100 degrees Celsius so I am a happy camper.

Over/under on how long it takes for this thread to get shutdown?

Mobil 1 is fine. Don't need any more discussion here. You can do plenty of reading on the matter over at Bobistheoilguy.com

Oil cooler is always a good idea.

Oil temps will run 220 on your gauge during normal summer driving. If you are not tracking the car, don't sweat it. The stock oil cooler/stabilizer will do just fine.

I have been there Florida gets very hot and humid in the summer. In your hot climate in Florida running a quality synthetic motor will help your engine run cooler over dino motor oil rather if you observe this on your temperature gauges or not. You can use Mobil 1 5W30 synthetic motor oil it will be fine just make sure to use a quality oil filter if you are switching to synthetic on your next oil change. Even though you already have an engine oil cooler it should work fine 220-230 degrees is normal operating temperatures for our engines but the VQ37HR runs hot unfortunately that is how they were designed to operate. If you do a lot of sprinted driving or go to the track I would recommend getting an aftermarket engine oil cooler it is more efficient for cooling.

With a 2019, you have an OEM oil cooler which uses your engine coolant to cool your oil. If you do not track your car, then you shouldn't worry about your oil temperatures. If you plan on tracking your car (even very occasionally), consider a 34 row cooler. If you plan on frequently tracking your car, two 34 row coolers or a 72 row cooler will be necessary for extended track sessions in your weather. If a cooler seems to be something you're interested in, do some searching. And no, your dealer will have no idea what to do about any of this. Have fun!

DO NOT take any advice from people who sell cars... avoid the dealership at all cost.

It's still open as of now. Had I bet earlier, I would have lost miserably.

OP, I live in Florida and went from an ‘09 Z to a ‘13 Z. I don’t track my car, but do have occasional fun with it. Never had an issue.

Switching to full synthetic oil will help with the heat transfer process.

Well if his profile is true, he seems to be an older gentleman. He typed his post in complete sentences, and was courteous. I say we selectively apply our "oil thread standard" and go easy on this one.
