When I was still a high school teacher, I put pictures of Porsches, Ferraris, Mercedes Ag, Nissan Skylines, Lambos, Jaguars, all manner of Z's and 40 years Formula 1 cars on a wall board. Thought the young guys would like them. Nope. We're confused what they were, called them "Tuners," (a Porsche 911 GT3, a tuner?) and some kids admitted whenever their dads, yes, their dads, saw a "Jap" sports car or "ricer," their words, not mine, they drive their Chevy and Ford pickups right up on their bumpers to intimidate them. Not just a few either.
Iteresting the use of the word "ricer" in reference to "jap" cars if I understand your post correctly. I guess I can understand the connection however, that is not what "ricer" refers to. RICE is an acronym fo Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement. So yes you can RICE out a mustang, just add a crazy large spoiler, outragous splitter up front, some off center stipes and you have a ricer. It does nothing to make the car perform better. I'm sure you guys are aware of this however, it makes me chukle when I see the words used interchangeably.
