Every time I hear this, I get a sour taste in my mouth. I think most of us here can agree the 370 is a pure driver's car, and can not be compared to any muscle car, but people continue to do so. And as long as they make those kinds of comparisons, the 370z will have a bad reputation.

I like that my Z has a "bad reputation". Hell yeah!!!

Nobody gets on my nerves quite like the muscle car "only drive a V8" douchebags that tend to drive Camaros, Mustangs and Challengers.
I agree completely about the Z being a drivers car. I haven't even found the limit of the cars grip yet as I don't seem to have the balls to! On my way home from work there's this sick little high speed chicane and when I'm lucky enough to get to it with no one in front of me I like to test myself a bit. No matter how fast I've hit it I've never even heard a chirp from the tires. It just digs in man. Which tells me I'd have to hit that thing going a good bit faster than I'm comfortable with to really reach the cars grip limits. And that would be a disastrous spot to lose control...

Haha doubtful! I don't have the balls in the car like I did riding my sportbike. Like riding a sportbike just turned me into a maniac. I can't even explain it. I would take the most stupid risks on that thing that put myself and anyone else unfortunate enough to be on the road near me in danger. Riding it put me in some sort of surreal mental state or something. Like it didn't feel real and consequences weren't a thing.

In the car I'm much more grounded in reality and therefore I don't do anything stupid or risky. I want to take my car to a track day maybe this summer. I need that in my life. Luckily I enjoyed my bike for about 4 years until I sold it this past spring. I was very lucky to have had it, enjoyed and never lay it down or die and then sell it. Owning a sportbike was something I'll never forget and I'm thankful to have gotten to experience it, but I can totally understand why people die on them all the time doing stupid ****.

As much as i wont a bike i know buying one might cost me my life with the way these clowns drive in NY..Maybe if i lived down south i would get one. One of the reasons i got my Z fun and safe.

this is so true. I've recently bought my first Z (back in july) and that's actually a question i get often from other car "enthusiasts". They always ask why i bought a new car that's so old in design. The answer is always "because I wanted to and i can" lol.

I mainly bought it as a GT car to enjoy on the weekend drives.

I don't think the general public gives half a ****. Most of them barely know enough to get their own oil changed, let alone be concerned with my sports car.

People have a weird conditioning to think because something is newer it's better. Or more accurately, that if something isn't the latest model, it's no longer good. When (if) Nissan comes out with a new Z, it's not like the 370Z suddenly becomes a bad car.

Car models being an annual thing is just to take advantage of that. Same with phones/gadgets. Tesla wasn't even going to have year models at first because Musk knew it, not sure if they do now.

I deal with a few different kinds of people.

1) Those who know nothing about cars. To them, it looks good and it looks fast. I get a lot of compliments. I got a lot with my 350z too. Both cars look more expensive than they are.
2) Those who know a little bit about cars and horsepower. To them, it's a lot of "dud3 my must@ng is super faster!!!"
3) Those who are car enthusiasts and who recognize it for what it is - a car meant to carve canyons and winding roads.

For point #2. I just don't talk with those guys. Over the years I have became less and less interested in carrying on a conversation with those folks. They annoy me to no end.

It's a Z, and the Z has always been the Z since 1970 and nothing else is quite like it.

There are those that understand and there are those I won't bother trying to explain it to.

One thing they've all had in common is a lot of bang for the buck. I think maybe that's the thing that sets the Z apart.
