3. The official 300 bhp figure is underated. It's more like 330-340 bhp, according to dynos.

4. The 2010 Z4 has 335 hp, not 300 hp.
i thought he was talking about the audi TT, and the hp for the M Coupe is 333 but that because of the 2 cats and crimpled headers. also i know there straight 6. but im also trying to stop looking at the 370 because it makes me question my choice so i dont know....

I dont think I'd trade Z4M for the 370 if I already owned it - not at all. I think they are great looking cars.

Another positive with the N54 engine is that torque is maxed from like 1250 rpm to redline.

Default Update re: Z4M Coupe ---> 370Z

I went to the Cleveland auto show this past Sunday. The Cleveland show has always been a big one as this area is second to Detroit in automotive businesses. The turn out was huge, with most marques having large displays (BMW's was an exception with a very small display).

I talked at length with a Nissan specialist who really knew the 370Z (or at least seemed so to me). He punted on my question about over heating if the car was tracked and gave me Nissan's tech support phone number for further conversation.

The car would be my daily driver and occasional track and auto-X car. He seemed to say that car was designed for spirited driving, but not a track weekend. This statement was really soft, as the 370Z is a sports car, and I am not talking about racing, but a few "Driver's Education" weekends. He was still hesitant.

When I asked about the NISMO, he said that was much more like my ///MCoupe and should be fine on the track, but he advised against the car by saying he wouldn't trade 5 days/week of comfortable driving for spirited weekend or track time.

With all his expertise, he didn't inspire confidence.

Any thoughts or comments?

BTW, the Lotus Evora was the star of the show to me. Wow!, but expensive. The dealer has 12 coming in and 3 are pre-sold, but at 2.5 time the price of a 370Z.

Thanks.

I track mine quite a bit.
Absolutely necessary is an oil cooler, whether or not you get the Nismo version. Also, it does tend to stall out in hard right turns with less than 3/4 tank of gas on the track, even earlier with R compounds.

Other than that, its a great track car.

I am on my second Z4, 6 years, and the lease expires on my '07 in April. The new Z4 is gorgeous, and imho has three issues - its overpriced, if you look at how poorly these cars are dropping in value, the trunk is pretty much useless, and the options are way overpriced (and they downgraded the audio system this year, so you have to buy the premium audio (another $1800). The Boxster is a better choice as a pure sports car, it drives better in every respect and costs about the same, depending on how you equip it. I still love the new Z4 though. Killer styling.
However I'm ordering a 370Z Touring roadster instead. BMW is not bending on the price yet, but they will. The Z4's are not selling (see the numbers on the Bimmerfest forum) they were knocking $10,000 off the leftover '09s, gave up on the '10s, and are now only making '11s. Guys on the Z4 board were shocked to find out what there cars are worth now. (I'm glad I don't have to sell or trade mine). The 370 has a great driving feel, very similar performance (but only if you chose the more expensive twin turbo Z4) and can be purchased at near invoice, so about $10,000 less than the BMW. A new Z4 with wicked CA taxes, license, & insurance, say adios to about $60,000 all in. If I was prepared to spend that much it would be a Boxster. I struggled with the same decision for the last three months and read just about everything written on these two cars. I came down on the value side. If B of A stock hits $50 maybe I'll go German again. Make sure you drive each car more than once.

the Z4 we are buying is for my wife, so its all about style, not performance, even though were are getting the 35. USAA buying service has it at 500 over invoice, so that is what I am shooting for at the dealer later today.

Does she need a V6 TT? Maybe like the other guy said look at the Boxster.

BTW I love the USAA car buying thing, I was looking at it last night and they say they can get the GTR premium for $76K.

she doesn't 'need' it, but I want it. The boxster is old and dated looking to me, and Porsche doesn't give you a discount for European delivery like BMW does (7% less)
