Need help asap

My wife bought me a certified pre own 16 Nismo last month. We have been asking them for the inspection sheet and finally they called and said the sheet is ready to be pick up. What condition is a certified pre own suppose to be in?

I have
paint cracks
1 bent wheel so far
3 curbed up wheels
paint chips
headliner installed wrong and separating on left corner
dented Nismo logo on shifter plate
faded passenger seat
steering wheel suede dirty and coming apart
2 1/2 quart of oil was low
dirty filthy air filter
exhaust leak
non Nissan front rotor
ebrake doesn't hold
non matching tires
front lip faded and chipped looks textured

I am lost. They have been ignoring me and said every Nissan does the certified different. Nissan consumer affairs said the same thing too and they don't know what a Nissan certified preown condition suppose to be in. I have an appointment tomorrow and need some help.

Inspection sheet? Looks like they did not "inspect" a dime on this car lol.

Any dealer worth their salt should fix most of these free of charge, especially given the time frame.

When did you report these issues?

CPO means the car will pass the state inspection. Most of that sounds like cosmetic things. I HATE dealerships with a passion. They need to have been federal regulations. Hammer their asses until you get what you want. Its not going to be easy, but keep fighting

I have not been a Nissan tech but typically CPO has to be in like new condition. No dents over a certain size (Acura was a nickel if I remember correct), no curb rash (they can repair the rash doesn’t need to be replaced), no bent wheels etc... in order to be CPO certified the car has to meet tighter standards, you can call Nissan customer support line to get the actual requirements and if yours do3snt pass you can report it to Nissan and that dealer will be under the radar (no dealer wants to lose their ability to sell CPO cars and they can lose that right if they have enough complaints or get caught selling non passing cars). On the paint chips it’s like dents, they have to be under a certain size and again can be touched up, they are not required to re paint the car or you’d never see a CPO car as the dealer wouldn’t be able to sell one with any profit after repainting an entire car etc...

Buying a Nissan CPO is actually a better bargain than new as the CPO powertrain warranty is better than new car (100k vs 36k). I picked myself up a 2013 CPO z and couldn’t be happier.

Hummmm......why would she buy this for you in the first place? It sounds to me that it's been rode hard and put away wet. :twocents:

Can she get her money back? I would look at another vehicle. No '16 Z should be in this condition unless it was mistreated, mishandled and abused.

My CPO interior was in really good condition except for a few scratches in the plastic from loading/unloading stuff in the trunk. The exterior has one rash on the front and back bumper as well as underneath one of the mirrors. Also some curb rash on the rims, but some rim paint touched that up quickly. The engine bay was immaculate, I didn't see a speck of dirt.

I've come to realize that replacing/painting the front bumper would be pointless as this car is a rock magnet so I don't really worry about it. As for the back, yeah it'd be nice if it didn't have a scratch but oh well, exterior of cars take a beating and my wallet isn't about to since it's my daily.

Given my circumstances when I bought the car since it was the only black cherry (and last year of them) reasonably close and for a decent price I bought it anyways. You on the other hand sound like you got robbed, the exterior in my opinion is on the buyer but as far as mechanical issues that's on them.

Also might I add my gf just bought a CPO from the same dealer I did, oddly enough, because their service sucked but nonetheless it was spotless in the interior and clean.

Return it....

Do us a favor, post the vin so we all know to avoid it

Maybe don't let your wife buy cars anymore? Sounds like she received the typical dealer treatment. Whether you want the issues fixed or the dealer to take the car back, you will most likely have to get corporate to force the dealer's hand. Good luck :ugh:

If it's a Nissan CPO check out item 66 & 151. Sounds like it's been abused, unless you got a ridiculous deal take it back.

FPenvy 09-19-2018 08:40 AM

a 2016 had that much damage? :bowrofl:

i hope your wife paid about 10k for that tops :shakes head:

All of these items should be clearly visible with a 5 minute visual check. Why did she buy the car? I ordered mine on Carvana and even they gave me as long as I needed to inspect the car before the delivery driver drove off.

The next day, its been month now.

yeah, cpo means nothing. not just for nissan. a friend bought a hyundai and later found out all the problems it had and i'm not sure (it was almost a decade ago) but may have been in an accident. the only thing dealers have in common is, you can't trust them. if they picked that car for a cpo then they must really specialize in crappy used cars. good luck.

Spooler 09-19-2018 01:27 PM

Hmm, your wife bought it for you? I would be on the fence about this one. She thought she was doing a great thing FOR YOU. That being said, If you can't take it back you need to live with it and shut the hell up. Every time you bitch about it you are making her feel more like crap. The old saying is "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth." Fix the issues yourself. It looks like most of this stuff can be fixed anyway.
