I asked the detailer that was showing me his work - he said it's common practice, and a sign of THIN paint. Maybe it's a golf-ball approach... That said, sure the paint chips easy, so do other cars. I'll repaint my car when it gets bad enough, and call it a day. Will it hurt the value of the car if it's repainted - sure...but IMO, a chipped up car will be more value-hurt. Even then, I don't intend to sell this car anytime soon...
