That's exactly it. In 6 months there will be another test with the Type R coming in third to the two newer models. Car magazines don't compare anything, they just pump whatever car manufacturer writes the biggest check.

The new Nismo with the Dunlops would have been the proper car to bring if available. Hell, they could've asked a dealership to borrow one for publicity. This could have been an opportunity for Nissan to show how well the platform aged against the newer contemporaries. The Z was running mid 13's, braking near 100ft from 60mph, 70mph slalom tests, and pulling a G in the corner with Advan's and RE50's 8 years ago.
Every one of those metrics lay right over the CTR. Granted that's "magazine racing", but the point is, a Sport or specifically a Nismo Z would have been a lot more interesting.

Agree not the best trim choice but still cool to see how the Z still hangs given how relatively "old school" it is. These cars both have a ton of tech but the old school approach of the Z is what makes it so fun. At least in my opinion.

The Type-R is definitely fast, but it's way too boy racer riced out for me.

It's convenience for bias that these compares are made this way. People are paying $45,000 for a new CTR, So that runs in line with the nismo.
The Z is on another level though even in a base Z. RWD is King.
