I'm just mind boggled that the Nismo edition (which isn't really 'special' anymore bc they made it a trim level for numerous cars) is close to $50k. I mean, anyone who is considering a new vs used - it's hard to justify getting a Nismo edition for that much. I mean, the minor upgrades here and there - still doesn't do anything to me. Either bring on a new Z35 or at least look to increase the HP and performance in the car in general. I feel like this car hasn't changed (bc it hasn't) in the last 9 years.

**Disclaimer - I LOVE my Z - I wouldn't trade it for anything else at the moment but if I was looking at a new Z - I could easily cross shop it against better vehicles out there for either a little more or much less money. Just saying.

Sad part is, if I needed a car, like don't even have my Z, and my budget was in the 45k range, I would be thinking about the Nismo.

It's not so much bang-for-buck but what I probably would like most in the end, barring a killer deal on used C7 or something.

it will likely to reduce the longevity of the csc if the pressure plate is stronger with the new clutch.

Is that the only thing that is holding you back? There are plenty of upgrade options for this part.

I know, I've read that whole thread. I can't work on my own cars any more due to a back injury (this repair was probably above my pay grade anyway) and it's really hard to find anyone who can do that type of work where I live out in the boondocks. I love my 350Z, but it's 15 years old, and I think I'd like a newer Z before Nissan potentially moves to an I4 TT with the next gen.

knowing nissan they probably re-engineered the entire clutch assembly. (doubt it) because the slave cylinder hasn't changed part number

That's why they make a base and a sport. Those insignificant mods and minor updates on the nismo, keep your car from flexing on track. That's race car shyt. Not even our competitors come with that. Those are mods that are typically outsourced in the aftermarket and cost about $8,000 by themselves. Then you get the akebono lsd, recaros and now the exedy clutch.

If you're not into religious tracking? You buy the sport model. Nissan didn't add 18 HP to the nismo to make it faster. They added 18HP to compensate for the extra weight of EXPENSIVE body bracing. So if you're not on track? You won't be losing out if you buy a sport!

Let's not forget the Nismo has different shocks, Yamaha dampers, different tires and wheels. I think that street price being $42,000 is a really good deal.

Getting rid of the base nismo was dumb as fukk though. They just alienated the hardcore enthusiast who cares about taking 50lbs out their car.

I can certainly understand that... but anyone who can do a clutch job can install a ZSpeed HD CSC. =) Good luck!
