Also, do you think I'd be hard to find a used GTR in good condition? Or would you say the original owners just rag them the f*** out then move on? Thanks for the advice guys!

Firstly, I seriously doubt there will be a new Z anytime soon or ever. If and when it happens, it will definitely not be what you expect. Probably a 4 cylinder turbo or even some sort of hybrid on a crossover platform. Let's face it, these are the last of the true Z's.

Secondly, it's almost impossible to find a used GTR that hasn't had the sh*t kicked out of it, usually on track. And that's if you find a stock one. I'd love to upgrade to a GTR one day but I know the pitfalls of buying one used.

This is an unrelated question, but I cannot find the answer anywhere...are there any differences between the nismo tech version vs 16/17 models?

I think you are right Cyber. I just saw that Honda eliminated the Accord coupe... and while certainly not a direct competitor for the Z, the trend for all coupes isn't looking hopeful.

I compared the '18 specs on the Nissan website with the specs in the '17 brochure. Besides the EXEDY clutch and Dunlops, the things listed for the '18 that weren't listed for '17 are:

Smoked taillights and door handles
Power outside mirrors
Dual exhaust finishers
UV-reducing solar glass
Illuminated cruise control
Key-operated windows
Audio--MP3 playback

So not much difference, if any, other than the clutch and tires.

I think all those things are on previous models as well...

I read that the smoked tail lights are new, but I wouldn't be surprised if the other stuff is unchanged from '17.

Thanks for the info peeps....I may be a Z owner this Saturday if this salesperson gets off his high horse lol

Story time: Yesterday I went to a nissan dealership and the salesperson didn't know what a nismo was. ::sigh::

Good luck. I've been trying to find a dealer within a reasonable distance that has both a 370Z Sport and a Nismo so I can test drive them back-to-back with my 350Z. Most of my phone calls have been massively frustrating.

I don't understand. Either sales are picking back up (which I think they are, or at least in the used segment) or they're just being typical salespeople. I don't get calls back, no follow ups, no nothing. As a matter of fact one dealer I had to call 3 times and every time it was "I'll call you right back after I get numbers." Then theres this dealer who checks back with me only to offer the same price and gets frustrated that I'm not flexible. All these salespeople that ive been talking to are saying these cars are in high demand. I honestly dont even know what to tell them. its like arguing with a stupid person..

You most likely need to go in person. Most dealers don't take you too seriously when you call. I find that if you actually show up then it shows them your are more apt to buy. After you've made that contact then you can usually get away with doing things over the phone.

And no, these cars are not in high demand. Especially if you wait another couple months. Once fall/winter starts to come on sports car demand drops. I bought my 09 special ordered when they first came out for 500 below invoice and bought my 2010 NISMO at invoice. Just takes patience and finding the right dealer.

That's good in theory, but when the nearest dealer with a Nismo is a whole day away, round trip, I need to lay some groundwork over the phone. Just showing up and finding out the car on their website is stored in a warehouse in the next county and not available to look at, let alone test drive, is not an option.

The 370z is that old car you always wanted and can still get as a new car. :tiphat:

Just noticed that the 2018 hardtop comes with a hatch release button in the center console where the soft top up/down button goes.

Also the Tokyo auto show starts this friday. As much as I doubt there will be a new Z I'm still getting anxious of the possibility that they might surprise us.

Don't just tease us, post pics of this hard top button.
