Hood sticks out just a HAIR, I'll let it settle for a few months and then remove some of the plastic to bring it down a bit....

I just turned my front wheels in order to reach the bolts. No jacking the car up.

Ripped Speed Bleeders out of the right rear Akebono caliper. With them in the outboard pad wouldn't even clear the surface of wash rust!

Turns out they're 2 threads shorter than OE, causing an issue I can't figure out without seeing the pathway of the fluid through the caliper. SB is on the right in the pic.

Well since January:
Took it into Austin Z Clinic and got some work done. New Gallery Gaskets (mine were still intact after 160K!!!), upgraded the coolant hoses, new water pump, new thermostat, and went with a Z1 Street Pro LSD with 4.08 gears.

Next are new rear rotors (borrowed the old ones from my mom's car because my 2 piece hat was destroyed when i replaced the parking brake hardware and pads a while back), new Paragon P3 pads (i don't like the feel of the Z1 pads on the street) and the upgraded Z1 control arms that are SPL copies essentially. Doing some more stuff later but i do more bike stuff anyway.

I didn't bother - but it'll get done as I have a coolant change on my long list!!

For me it was surprisingly easy. I sprayed it with PB Blaster the night before and used beefy extensions and ratchet. They broke free easy. However, my car is a 2019 with only 14k miles which probably helped. And the steering shaft wasn’t a problem either.

Have the right tools on hand and it’s not THAT bad. Swivel joints and variety of extensions.

A second set of hands is nice during reinstallation to hold the bolt while you tighten the nut.

Finally got my Z back from Nissan after months of waiting for an ECU. Trying to resolve the aggravating p1606 VVEL issue. Ran through the usual gamut of solutions but none worked.

Slowly approaching 285k.

So for reference this is what I’ve done.

2020 first VVEL issue. Replaced with new VVEL.
Late 2025 VVEL issue again. Swapped in two separate used form eBay, didn’t help. Added new grounding cable battery to chassis, OeM was toast. Added a new battery. Still have issues.
Tried new relays. No fix. Still occurring constantly. Resets would last me 30 miles.
Early 2026 tow it to local Nissan for diagnosis. Next steps was to procure a certified ECU - that took some serious time.
Certified ECU swapped in + ground cable added to VVeL ground pin from a recent Z thread on here.

So far, I’ve made it 200+ miles no issue.
