How do you carry the engine bay wash? Do you just spray? I am to chicken to attempt this. .. .

Let's be real. . . You planned this one, she must have been getting under your skin and you wanted payback:stirthepot:

This happened way back in late 70's. I had a '73 Dart Sport 340, swapped to 440, swapped to 572 cubic inch monster. The car had high back vinyl bucket seats. My buddy told me on how great the silicone spray made his vinyl seats looked. So........I tried it. :rofl2:

Cover up what you don't want to get wet, and get the rest wet :rofl2:

But seriously.. I removed the electrical box on the driver fender so i don't need to cover that, but I cover the filters on my catch cans and put plastic sheeting over the battery/hydraulic compartments. Spray the bay with Adams' Eco-Friendly All Purpose Cleaner. Then, and this is the trick, I use a garden watering attachment to wash the bay down. That way there's no high-pressure streams of water finding their way into places that I don't want them. It definitely takes a leap of faith to do but everything in the bay is more or less water-resistant. Think of all the cars with hood vents (I know I've been, after my last trip.)

I typically leave the battery and brake fluid compartments covered. I cover the alternator and the air filters with a towel. Never had any issues spraying the engine bay with hose on full jet blast. I try to spray components from above and avoid spraying sideways into them.

Took a trip to Lone Tree raceway where I live and raced a guy from work that has a bolt on Evo X with cams. 2 runs, both times my nose was in the middle of his rear passenger door with me barely pulling.

... I need just a little more.

Update on seats: absorbed the leather balm and have went back to matte finish.

I did test a side piece earlier bht didnt see the shine due to being on the underside.

Dovo leather balm. Figured it moisturizes a strop that rubs a lot and the seats (side bolstering) recieved lots of friction i wanted to moisturize to prevent cracking

Smart move. I've been considering having leather patches sewn onto the wear spots on my Sparco.. maybe the next time I reupholster it.

Yesterday I went for a run around some hilly turns blasting eurobeat followed by taking refuge in the coffee shop because it's too hot. My temps hang around 210F with the new oil cooler core, but I'll reserve judgement until I get it back on the track.

Which hilly turns did you hit up?

BettyZ 06-10-2019 06:22 PM

My legs were getting damn hot during my road trip last week so I wrapped the driver's side Y pipe (ran out of wrap for the last 5 inches.) Interested to see if this keeps temps down on the only side that matters (mine.)https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3b149518e3.jpg

Wrap the other side too, to keep things equal.

:iagree: down pipes and Y pipe should be wrapped, or LTH/ mid pipe for the FI guys, until you are past the trans a bit wrap it up

Quicksilver43 06-10-2019 08:14 PM

Washed it! Also very therapeutic for me!

Ian B 06-10-2019 08:17 PM

Got it washed today and fueled in preparation to start work week tomorrow.

BettyZ 06-10-2019 09:31 PM

Took 2 hours but the grime from 2,100 miles of road trips last week is finally off. Cut off the beat up neoprene lip. Put aluminized heat barriers on the nuts and backing plates for the driver/passenger harness eyebolts; they mount inside the trans hump and were burning hot to the touch after about 8 hours of driving. Also ordered a Zoom Engineering inside mirror! Ab to push another tune update from Seb.

Installed Annex Coilovers yesterday for the fronts. I love them and I didn't even to the rears yet!!! They fixed my car's dive bombing under heavy braking and it feels so stable. Also, I was amazed of how much more comfortable they were to stock even though the springs are 12k. Highly recommend they for anyone new coilovers and don't know what to get. Smooth ride with way above stock performance.

Lol got them at Home Depot. They protect your knuckles from getting destroyed from working on the car. I've had enough bruises and swollen hands to know I needed these this time around along with the breaker bar and PB blaster which went so smooth.

It's dangerous down there.. first time I tried to install a FUCA the steering knuckle swung down and punched me in the face.

Super exciting! Did you buy the pinch weld blocks? You absolutely need them. I went without them for the first few months and the sides of my pinch welds bent out like the Greek letter psi.
