Not feeling the black on the Advan F7's so need to do something about that. What you guys think, either bare metal with clearcoat or powdercoat gun metal.

Not sure why but hadn't considered that. That could work

New Rear Emblem

Been done on here a bunch of times but I took the liberty of making some small adjustments to it.

Been holding on to this until I got the Nismo Rear Bumper on the Roadster.

I've been off of work all week so I decided to start a new 3D printed project for the Z.

I decided to make a 3D printed shift knob, and after a few iterations I have one IO like.

It's a fairly simple design printed out of ABS. I modeled a top and bottom piece and filled them with BBs and epoxy to add some mass, and then use a M10-1.25 flange nut pressed into the bottom half and used JB wled to hold it into place. I then used acetone to chemically weld the 2 pieces together and then smoothed it with an acetone vapor bath.

I may paint it, but I'm still not sure. I Kind of like the idea of knowing that it's 3d printed. I can't find my kitchen scale otherwise I'd weigh it.

I see you got "Photobucketed" too.
I pulled all of my images off of there and will never use them again.

When you put on that shift knob don't forget the gallon of lock-tite that Nissan recommends

Update: Back home and here's a few numbers and thoughts- A total of 2872 miles in 9 days. 5 states.. 2 provinces. 350 milers on interstate including a 200 mile 80+ mph run. (You've got to love Montana). The balance of the trip was on 2 lane roads and city. Close to 2400 miles with the top down. Average of 25.8 mpg. With the outside air temperature pushing 95F at times the oil temp never got above 225F includeing the 200 mile, 80+ mph interstate run at 98F. The Michelin PSS are a great touring tire as well as being sticky when you need them to be. And, yes, you can back 9 days worth of needs for 2 adults as well as a Lowe backpack for camera gear in a 370Z Roadster and still have room to spare. Now, back to work Monday morning.

Picked up a scratched up rear bumper someone was giving away for free on craigslist... plan to attempt/learn:
stripping off the paint
shaving the rear emblem
repaint with aerosol cans - automotive touchup KAD and 2k clear

Drove from St Pete/Clw to western NC (~600 miles), and only saw one 370z the whole way. Amazing!

brought it to a car meet. Ran into two R34 GT-Rs and an R33. The owner of the blue R34 let me drive it. I can now die happy. (yes they were federally legal)

Hotrodz's hood vent insert thread has gotten me all giddy. I'm going to start work on making my own. I gotta figure out optimal placement for the vent to extract heat from the bay

Document! Love seeing construction threads of this type of stuff.

Z_ealot 07-12-2017 09:58 PM

did a little maintenance and changed out my old PCV valves with almost 160,000 miles on them. fuel trims are now back to normal and so went ahead and installed the K&N drop in filters I just purchased from another member here, purring like a kitten now. last thing to do for this weekends project is to do a little more intense cooling system flush and see if I can address a coolant flow issue :)
