Set timing on the Z after replacing the oil gallery gaskets and discovered a nasty surprise that I'm not sure how it got there, but there's a small crack in the rear timing chain cover on one of the bolt holes directly above the thermostat housing. Did the best i could for now to prevent the crank from spreading until i can get it taken care of, she's back up and running, but it made it a bittersweet ending to the weekend

Ordered the Z1 fuel port and a nice mini fuel pressure gauge as a "while we're here" type of add-on.

I still need to get my software re-flashed so it can pass. For now, I just make extra sure not to speed when I drive the car. Once I get the Ethanol sensor wired in, i think I'll just schedule time with my tuner to dyno it and do the software changes all at once. |
Winding Road was backed up for the next week, so I went ahead and did all the work myself. The only problem I had was with the retaining clip that holds the fuel line against the chassis. I got frustrated and just used the dremel on it. Got the new sensor, fuel port, and gauge all installed and wired up to the haltech. Now i have verification that the local station with E85 sucks. I'm reading 51% ethanol -_-
A bonus is that the GM fuel sensor also has a temperature output. So I connected that as well. https://imgur.com/ymiYT7Mh.jpg https://imgur.com/2fiSwWmh.jpg |
Replaced a coolant line for the passenger side throttle body, it had a good life at just a hair over 218,000 miles lol

I did some homework reading through the BCM portion of the FSM and figured out where I need to tap lines for the signal indicators and high beam alert for the Haltech. It looks like i can just use an add-a-fuse for the high beam signal, and I can use the direct lines going into the BCM for the Turn signals. The fuel gauge line is connected to the existing instrument cluster so I will have to tap that separately. As far as mounting/relocating the standard dash, I still have to figure that out, but I'm willing to do a radio delete if it gives me extra room.
