I don't understand the excitement with going xxx MPH in a proper sports car, in a straight line.
Sure, my 1990 Sentra econo box got interesting above 85MPH because it had the aerodynamics of a cardboard box and a suspension engineered from discarded slinky toys. But it wasn't "interesting" in a good way. In my 350, the diference between 70 and 150 was just road noise and possible jail time. |

The only car I've had that was better at masking just how fast you were going was the SRT8 300 I had for several years before the 370... Not only was it super stable at ludicrous speed, but it was so quiet and the ride was so smooth that you'd be well into require-bond-to-go-home-speeds and not even know it. In fact, the only problem I had with the 300 was it being a 4-door land-yacht when I was really wanting a 2-door sportscar. |

The 370 does mask speed well. Was doing 90kmh dropped to 4th to overtake and next thing I'm doing 130... er oops. I like to give er some gas when passing trucks on my road trips. I rather not sit in their dead zone.

Me? Only cuffed once in the back seat of a B&W for reckless and evading. Ended up upside down in a ditch when they caught up to me. Didn't go to jail but that was before evading was a felony. Still, the reckless was a misdemeanor and had to spend 2 weekends hacking weeds at the local jail. Judge didn't seam very pleased with my driving skills. LOL Fine for the pair was about 8x of speeding at the time. Man I was stupid that day. Just so you know... if you loose it north of 100 you slide a really long ways...

edit: I mean no offense here - just wanted to point out that you are a silly guy. :ughdance: |
Most of these boy scouts on here are full of shiit!!! If you don't get that rush for adrenaline, then you don't need to be in a sports car or your car sucks azz and isn't right for you. I hit triple digits during the test drive like someone else had mentioned so to hear your guys say you always keep it at or under 55-60 is hilarious. I don't street race, but I haul azz when i get the urge as i'm sure most of you do, but i get it................ Shhhhhhh Trips Is Watching.

Do you get excited when going hundreds of miles per hour in a passenger jet? (At cruising altitude when nothing else is going on? ) No? What if you had a speedometer disply on the seat-back in front of you? I mean the number would be impressive...but there is no "feeling" to cause a "rush" unless you hit turbulance or something. It's the same thing when driving a stable vehicle in a straight line at a steady speed....the speed doesn't matter when it's steady or changing at a fraction of the rate you could accelerate at much lower speeds. Nothing is happening. The fear of getting caught or having something happen without time to react might cause a "scare", but it's not something I would seek out for its own sake. *edit* I see you are in St Pete. My club is holding a fun day this Saturday in Lehigh on an old WWII air strip. It's only for members and invited guests. If you would like to experience some excitment in your vehicle, PM me. Of course, we hold events open to the public too, but you can get a lot of seat time Saturday if you want. |

I'm not trying to say that I always obey all traffic laws. I'm saying that good sports cars make high speeds themselves uneventful. |

I am addicted to speed just like anyone else on here. The Cost/benefit ratio just get's diminished because of said jail time. If you do something long enough, you will get caught. It's not fun. I have some stories of my younger years that I don't talk much about. Let's just say I could be bat **** crazy. I am wiser in my older years. I always tell my wife that she had me neutered.

Prepare ship for light speed.
No, no, no, light speed is too slow. Light speed, too slow? Yes, we're gonna have to go right to ludicrous speed. |
Think it's bad here? Go on a motorcycle forum sometime where the cost of ownership is reduced by a factor of 3, the skill set required is enhanced by a factor of 10, and the consequences of doing something stupid are increased by a factor of like 100.:ugh2:
|
Ludicrous speed?! Sir, we’ve never gone that fast before. I don’t know if the ship can take it.
What’s the matter Colonel Sandurz? Chicken? |

There is a time and place for everything. If you are doing something stupid. Pick the time and place that no one else is going down with you.
I've done a lot of stupid things in my youth. :shakes head: It's a wonder that I'm alive today. I know I'm paying the for for it now. I got more Ti in my body then most have on their Z's. :shakes head: |
A safe place to try to do 125+, there is a company called Wannagofast https://wannagofast.com/
they rent out a private air airport and you can go as fast as you what in 1/2 mile and have about 1/2 mile to stop. I did this a couple of years ago, time slip stated I was just short of 125, but there official timing said I hit 145. I believe 125, car at that time was 100% stock. Check it out, lots of cars, fast cars, i think top speed for the weekend was 202mph. |
wanna go fast is fun to just come watch. i go every year it comes to georgia.
