Fun little test drive though :icon17:

Scary moment was a water drift / hydroplane induced slide. Wasn't going too fast but hit some grooves with rivers and slid. Was a long tail hang unintentionally. Scary cause fronts also lost traction briefly which initiated the almost wreck.

Wasn't even pushing either which was the scary part.

I have trouble getting it sideways with re11s at street speeds. :tiphat:

Some guys in the $12,000-18,000 price range that chose to buy a Z with 150,000 miles than an FRS with 30,000 miles... They shoulda chose the FRS.

I know a lot of the OGs on here are getting upset with the forum being invaded by "Stance Nation" - but I think you will find that while the Changing of the Guard is inevitable, it is also not all bad. I think you are going to see a much bigger portion of the community keeping more of a DIY perspective and we should start seeing some new ideas out there as well.

One little error at that speed, and you're dead. There was even a recent example of a guy dying behind the wheel of his Z, after losing control while street racing in Australia. Sadly, he's not the only one.

If someone wants to go that fast, they need to find a legal and safe venue to do so. I'm sure no family has a desire to be destroyed because some ******* felt he needed to see how fast his car is.

Street racing is wildly different than going 125 on an open smooth highway. I went 125 in my 4 banger 115 hp accord.

My z was 17000 and had 12k miles.

Why is everyone such babies about this? Its a performance car, like you never went over 100 anywhere with it?

SgtGoldy 02-14-2017 09:46 AM

IBTL... Surprised Trips isn't swing the hammer like I remember he would lol

Because admitting to going double the speed limit on a public forum isn't smart.

Basically babies. Its not stance nation, its new owners. Stodgy old turds always get frustrated when new people come in.

Change is good. Change is inevitable.

AestheticCM1 02-14-2017 09:50 AM

I think I hear a whambulance en route. Echoing the statements of others, I have more fun with the Z accelerating from a low speed to the speed limit quickly, then letting off the throttle. My bimmer lived above 120, but the gas mileage at that speed was disgusting. I even got my winter beater up to 115 once, the 110hp 4 banger sounded like it was going to explode. All of this happened on closed courses in Nigeria; no laws were broken.

Why? You know how many lies exist on forums? Is there a real chance that state police are gonna come on a forum, look at the thread, track down the user, then keep a special lookout for a 370z going 125? As if they'd ignore it going 85?

In all seriousness, whats the maximum realistic negative consequences?

I can neither confirm nor deny that I've exceeded the posted 75mph on the highways here in Colorado.

Well, that's not entirely true; I did get pulled over in the mid-90's in my TT 300zx for, and I quote; "I don't know how fast you were going, but I know it was too damn fast" - it took the trooper about 2 miles to catch up from the point I noticed the red and blues waaaaaay back there; but because I pulled over and waited for him, and the Porsche kept going, I was let off with a warning.

Now I'm older, wiser, and have the money to go to the track to be stupid. :D

Exactly why this thread is stupid, who cares how fast you can go on a smooth open highway, a minivan can do 110+. How fast can you do a lap on some track that's something.

I'm guessing Krazzz since he started a thread about it.

I wonder how much fuel that took... I remember an episode of Top Gear where they put the STIG in a Prius to go as fast as possible around the test track... Then Jeremy got into a V8 M3 and his only task was to keep up with the Prius. At the end, the M3 used less fuel.

And this is why older members hate the fact that the resale value of these cars has dropped enough to let in the riffraff.

Ziptying a bumper cover on isn't very DIY.

I guess technically it is unless you pay someone else to do it, but I digress.

Its fun how you think that was directed towards you. :owned:
The safe place is all ready for you to go into though. Seems to me, you were triggered at a simple meme that had no direction towards you
Go back to Twitter and Tweet about this because no one cares.
Have a good one newbie :tiphat:

Like I said.... many not all.... But you can get a base Z with sport 33k. U talking the Nismo. N I can negotiate one down to $39k.

The Z is worth it even 8.5 years old. It's a unique car. Even old....
