it's not just because of anime

i loved the little AE86 long before i ever got into japanese cartoons

the FT-86 is supposed to be a pretty mature design exterior-wise, but the interior is still a bit star trek-y.

yeah but i'm too young to remember see one in person

soo the anime was my first reference. Plus I've owned a couple of Best Motoring International where they had the AE86 in some touge battles.
