You will understand the implications when you study about this ongoing American recession in your history class

Meh, it's anything from a "chic magnet" or anything of the sort where I live. Hell, I don't anyone who has gotten a girl from simply having a car. It's not like people still drive around picking up girls these days. Then again I've been single for about 5 years now so what do I know I guess LOL

As for the rude people on the road, yeah. I almost got hit 3 times on my way to work this morning. People love to think I have to slam on my brakes b/c they don't want to get out of a closing lane sooner.... /sigh

That is why my DD is a 1988 F-150. But in the Z I always get tailgate by freaking big trucks.

Dude, it's called e-n-v-y! Some folks just can't see other people in "better" vehicles than theirs ("better" in quotes 'cause it's so relative, according to each individual's standards).

PS: I said $40k instead of 30k because when you add taxes (NY here) + other random fees + interest on a fully loaded Z, thats what it does come to. Try the calculation yourself you'll see.

A salute to Australia. Would that it were true here. One reason I gave up my bike was so many people seemed to be trying to kill me. I can't believe the difference between driving the 2006 Pathfinder I traded on the Z. People pull out in front of me, most often women on cell phones even though they are staring right at me. At four way stop signs, even when I am clearly first, I often let the other guy/gal go otherwise they go anyway. This morning a woman in a white SUV was waiting to pull onto a main road. In front of me was another white SUV. She waited for him to pass. The distance between the SUV waiting to pull out and the SUV she did not pull out in front of was the same. I was already prepared. Even though I was going faster than the SUV in front of me and my car is red, sure enough, she paused, and then pulled out in front of me. So typical.

^ It was painful. It blows my mind how so many drivers don't seem to be thinking even ONE step ahead of whatever action they're taking at the time. They just act on impulse all the time, as if tailgating is going to get you somewhere faster -- an especially funny assumption when the car in front of you is stopped or in heavy traffic.
/rant off

E-brake did save the day in that latter case if my memory serves me correct. You do feel like a noob doing it, but sometimes the risk just isn't worth the aggravation, you know?

Sounds like there's a lot of angry/road rage drivers in the US.

In the short time I have had my Z I have noticed much of the opposite where I live. People stay out of my way, give way when not necessary and give me preference when in 50/50 situations. Almost like a level of respect for the car as opposed to the jealous/arrogant approach.

On the chick magnet front, most girls I've spoken too don't even have any idea what a 370z is....but they love it when they see it .

In general I've found people take it different ways. Most fall in love with the car and think "wow, nice work or having an amazing ride" others get a case of tall poppy syndrone and get jealous, thinking "who does this young guy think he is driving something like that". Happens from time to time, especially coming from a working class town.

funny thing is, the OPPOSITE happened to me once =p. i'm on the freeway in my subaru forester and what comes to tailgate me? a bike using his high beams on me the whole time. i was on the farthest left lane, but i wasn't going slow by any means 140 km/h, which is what im guessing around 80-85 mph? now on a road with a bunch of traffic thats not bad.

but anyways i didnt do the anything slow down (didnt feel like being an *** with him), speed up. but then when a space opened up on the right he gunned it past me and flipped me off.

anyways if i hit the brakes, theres no way his 2 wheels could have stopped him in time given the amount of space in between us.

Really?... emergency brake. It's that big stick next to you that's not your shifter. Just pull up!
