Default Steering lock Issue, too late to pull fuse?

The past few days I have had the dreaded key light next to the fuel gauge on. The car still starts everytime as of right now but I'd like to take no chances.

Thing is, When I put the car in Accessory mode the key light stays on. I then hear a very faint almost "electrical" sounding whine, is this the steering lock doing what it needs to do for me to pull the fuse? Can anyone advise if pulling it now will still "work", even with the key light on?

Thanks

Why would you wait? What are the benefits of not pulling it now? It doesn't take long to do so unless you like being lazy there's no reason to wait.

I am going to, but currently stuck in the office and wondering if it will work. Every thread I've searched doesn't say anything about the light staying on. For the past few days I just thought my keyfob battery was dying until I realized last night what was going on. A little stressed out honestly

End the stress and pull the fuse

The light is probably unrelated to your ESCL status. Remove the fuse asap - you can do it in the parking lot at your office. Then you might still need to figure out why the light is on.

Read through the ESCL threads and verify whether or not it is the problem. If so, pull the fuse.

The whine could be several things: ESCL (sound comes from underneath dash at steering column and stops after a few seconds), fuel pump (behind seats, always on when engine powered up), engine (TBs, VVEL, etc), or ECM (passenger footwell).

It most definitely sounds like an ECU or fuel pump whine. It doesn't seem to be coming from under the steering wheel. Will be pulling the fuse at lunch. Does my car need to be in accessory specifically, or can I pull it with the car running?

EDIT: Never mind I found out from the link in your sig. You really went the extra mile compiling that, thanks.

DEFINITELY pull the fuse now. Mine was doing that whining last winter and I put it off 12 hours longer than I should have.
Got stuck when I went out to lunch. Thankfully, I had a wrench in my trunk that I could whack it with, so it finally released. Pulled the fuse that night.

Just a head's up once you pull it, mine sometimes takes longer to start. I'll hit the start button and nothing happens for a few seconds, then everything kicks in and starts. I don't know if everyone else has this happen, but didn't want you to panic if it happens to you.

I pulled the fuse, and the light did not go out until I disconnected the battery for a while to reset the ECU. Now to see if it comes back..

On the positive side you wont have to worry about steering wheel lock now!

This is true! I figured out why the light comes on.
My clutch pedal doesn't quite come all the way up sometimes and triggers the light, and when I nudge it up the light goes out. I think I need to bleed my clutch again. I just put in a new clutch/fly with CMAK and RJM master & pedal and had a frustrating time bleeding it so most likely there is still some air in there. At least I hope that is what it is.

Make sure your side tension nuts aren't too tight. Step 30 on RJM installation guide. I slightly over tightened mine initially and my pedal didn't come up all the way. Just like you, I could nudge it up and the key light would go off.

I literally loosened each nut only about 1/2-3/4 turn each. Pedal return was fine and key light never went on again.

Thanks for the tip, will mess with it this weekend.
