For one, it's only faster in a drag race, in a bone stock Z. Who gives a rats a$$ about drag racing in a Z? Almost no one. Second, who cares if it's more fuel efficient? Nissan states 18/26 MT6, 19/26 AT7. Wow, one whole mile extra in city. That's going to make a major difference. ![]() Also, IF you're really concerned about fuel efficiency in a sports car, you can easily hypermile with a MT, not so much in an AT. And just by chance, I've been doing a little hypermiling this past week in town, averaging 31 mpg for roughly 100 miles... In town! 31 mpg! And I wasn't even going crazy with it. I was just playing around some with it. Try that with the AT. But enough of this silly bickering. Since you totally missed my point in my first post, I'll spell it out for you... Other than possibly women who would gladly go for a blue auto Z, the two types of guys who would be looking for a used Z are either guys who are married and want to get a weekend sports car for a great price, or those younger high school/college guys who are on a tight budget but want to get a Z at a great price. Both of these types of guys are most likely hunting for a MT in their sports car, not an auto. My argument was never about one transmission being better than the other.

This one's an AT7, but that seems to be all that's being offered around here:

OP I'm in CA. April 2016 I purchased a 2014 touring, sport, 7AT, 8,100 mi. One owner, dealer maintained and certified (couple oil changes) $27,750 plus tax title etc. your asking price seems fair. I flew from the Bay Area to SoCal and drove back.

Welcome to the world of owning a nissan, as much as i love these cars and still do ) this was my only gripe, the value of these cars goes to **** with a few exceptions such as the (240z HR 350 r34) now i know that buying a car is by no means an investment but darn man **** happens and once you are off the lot these things go for pennies on the dollar. Good luck with the sale man its a beauty of a car.

The AT is a great trans in the Z cars, however without sounding like an ******* what these guys are saying is that it would be rather easier to sell the 6 speed

The new and used market for Z's has been soft for a long, long time. It was never strong to begin with. It is a niche market and the audience dwindles further because it cannot provide what the market wants --- usable rear seats and power (vs its so called American counterparts) and this is one reason why you see the new turbo motor on the the Q. There is a usable rear seat. Nissan never intended to keep up with competitor's upping their game. If they did, we would have seen various upgrades to keep our beeks wet. Nissan got themselves in a tough spot because the car was also priced too high to begin with and there was no indication that sales would go up with increased power. Adding a turbo then would have increased the cost to the consumer potentially hurting sales. There was no money to be made. Ford, Chevy, and Dodge figured it out. Get a big motor and slap it in a car, put decent brakes and suspension and oh, don't forget the rear seats.
For those who like the Z because of it's rarity, you can thank Nissan for that. In a nutshell why it is soft --- priced too high, never kept up with it's competitors, not enough power, and no usable rear seat (it's just not practical).

![]() Plus, it's an old car now. It's more or less identical to the same car you could have driven home in late 2008.
