Removing chrome from plastic emblems?

Well, the bleach trick did not work so well for me (after 4 days). It was still crusty and dissolved unevenly. I ended up just scratching up the "chrome", using

Well, the bleach trick did not work so well for me (after 4 days). It was still crusty and dissolved unevenly. I ended up just scratching up the "chrome", using plastic parts adhesion promoter, primer, red paint, and clear coat.
