My G feels faster then my Z

I have noticed ever since I started using the paddle shifters in my 7at G37S coupe more often sort of recently that my G pulls noticeably harder then my 6MT Z. Particularly in 2nd gear... it doesn't really matter what rpm I am at in the G in 2nd, it will pull hard if I give it gas. BUT... if I am in 2nd in my Z and give it gas the rpm really has to be higher up before it starts goin really fast, like I can floor it but if its not revved up higher it'll take a bit to build up speed. Thats fine I get that but how come in my G it just feels like it really pulls in 2nd even around 3k but in the Z i gotta wait for it to get to 5-6k maybe before it really pulls?

It may just be in my head but I feel like my G is just faster when using the paddle shifters and I don't really get it.. My Z should feel faster just because its so much smaller and lighter right?? Has anyone noticed this that has driven a G too? In fact I bet its probably the same way in the 7at Zs. They probably just pull really hard... I am not a pro at driving a manual, I learned on the Z 2.5 years ago but I feel really good with it now and I don't think that is the issue... A lot of times I just feel like the Z is slower.. maybe its in my head.. maybe it is and I just got a slow Z.. or maybe I just completely suck at life driving a manual but that can't be 100% the reason here.. NO matter what I still love my Z its way sexier then the G and I love that its a manual. I still love both. But the G feels faster.

Shorter gearing in the G, plus the torque converter allowing some slip which in turn allows the engine to rev quicker. Doesn't necessarily mean you're accelerating quicker though.

Butt dynos are not very accurate. Get an accelerometer (some cell phones have them built-in).

Expanding on what Chopz said, you are comparing 2nd gear pull of a 7AT with shorter 2nd gear and help from torque converter against a 6MT with electronic throttle control that delays throttle response.

I own a 7AT G Sedan as well, I know exactly what you mean.

I've had both 370z one in 6Spped and the other in 7AT. I know exactly what you mean. The 7AT has shorter gearing (RPM goes up real quick) and being an automatic (it shifts really quickly) but in reality it's comparable depending which gear you are on and what RPM (on both)

They do. There's no difference before 2015.

An auto Z will pull anywhere from 4.6 seconds to 5.0 seconds.
A manual Z will pull anywhere from 4.9 to 5.3 seconds.

An automatic G. Will pull from 5.2 to 5.5 seconds.

A manual G will pull from 5.3 to 5.7 seconds.

Yes, the autos feel faster because of the torque converter and are faster because of .300 millisecond shifts.
