I keep my car meticulously clean and wash it once or twice a week. I keep towels on both of my seats to protect them from scratches and the like. I recently replaced my kick plate because it had a tiny scratch on it (even though that's what it is for). And I've been obsessing lately about a 3 inch scrape towards the bottom of my car that no one else can even see outside myself.

Please tell me I haven't lost my mind, I know many of share the same affliction right? lol
Welcome to the club. Most everyone that knows me appreciates that I keep the Z clean. I also keep the other cars clean, so it's no big deal. However, the Z gets special attention which does cause some funny accusations from my friends and relatives.

I am so OCD that i am thinking after winter time driving in the rain, that i will get the car professionally buffed then see if i can get another cleacoat added ontop(not sure if its possible) and maybe have the bottom clean and protected so it doesnt rust.

I'm extremely OCD as well.. I've had the car for 3 weeks and drove it only twice on perfect weather days (only because I HAD to... I didn't take posession of my winter-beater till 3 days after I bought the Z). Then I washed it and stuck it in the garage till last Saturday when I had the whole front-end clear-bra'd. It will never come out in the rain or snow.. and, sadly, once it snows for the first time and salt/sand get thrown on the roads, it won't come back out till the spring when the roads get swept. I've got about 80 miles on the car (literally)... and it probably won't get past 100 till next spring (!!!). This is literally my first brand new car (and my dream car, at that), and I can only do this because I recently got a cheap winter junk car. Yeah, i'm a little OCD!

If I did this, I would feel like I just wasted 38k. No offense

LOL. No... I know. I'll be driving it for sure. Just not in any crap weather. And for the record it's a touring model, auto w/rear spoiler and I got it new for a little over 32k. Now is definitely the time to take advantage of those end-of-the-year deals!

You are not alone. Actually, its more like thank God i'm not alone. Bought my Z in April. The next day bought a 95 millenia for the winter. Changed the oil on the Z at 600 miles then at every 1500 miles after that. I'm the only one that washes it and applies wax to it. As far as OCD i press the lock button on the key fob at least 6 or 7 times before i finally walk away. It's a beautiful car but don't forget to drive the hell out of it cuz thats where the real enjoyment is. Co-workers and friends bust my balls all the time but i don't care cuz im faster!

Man, I thought I was crazy... I just wash my car once a week and wax every few months. I don't let anyone lean on my car and I park strategically. I have a gf, work, school and a very active social life. I can't imagine keeping the car as clean with my own business, house or kids.

A girlfriend of mine had her feet all over the dash and headliner once and I could care less... Probably scratched a few things but it's all good.

I was with you until you got to this part. I love my GF, but she puts her foot on my dash and my foot's going....well...nvm.

Seriously though, I'd hope she wouldn't do that to my car whether it's an 2009 Z or a 1990 Mirage.

On a side note: I do keep my car clean. I mean it was a magazine cover car so I can't likely be rolling around in a filthy car. And I am meticulous about maintanence but I don't sweat all that small stuff like track day wear etc.

I try to clean the exterior every week, keep the interior clean as I can during the week. My front bumper has I think 4 rock chips in it now, and not just slight, meaning the paint has been removed. No one even sees them unless they wash my car, as per last night a friend was helping and he saw them and was shocked, but he said you can never see them unless you look closely.

Regarding synthetic oil, coolant, K&N oiled air filter, etc., I try to be very meticulous. On the paintjob...hmmm, living in a condo' makes you look the other way, 'cause the sun down here's a killer.
