I accidentally left 370Z unlocked, stuff stolen, is there an auto lock feature?

That's kind of silly. Why would I need my car to be unlocked for 8 hours?
The functionality is there - mostly. Easily accessing it is not. If you have any experience with micro-controllers (eg, Arduino), it should be a weekend project.

Different strokes for different folks. My cars are seldom locked - most of the time spent in the garage. I'd be kinda upset if the doors auto-locked.

Yea once your window gets smashed to get inside to be robbed you realize you would have rather unlocked your door to let them in instead. So that is the silver lining. I remember on my old Spec-V sentra they put a brick through my window and sent glass all over the interior. I was picking up and finding glass pieces until the day I sold the car. All over some Cd's and change I had left on the passenger seat. You live and you learn.

we leave our family car unlocked and without anything of value, that way they don't have to damage the car to get it opened and there is nothing to steal

I had stuff stolen from an unlocked car in my own driveway about 40 years ago. I doubt I have left my car unlocked more than twice since then.

I also had stuff stolen 30 years ago from another car in my driveway by someone using a slim jim.

Remembering to lock the doors and keep stuff out of view is about all the effort I'm willing to make. Hopefully there are easier nearby targets than my car.

I worked with someone who did that and a homeless person took a dump in their back seat.

Edited to add it was assumed to be a homeless person. I could have been that someone just didn't like them.

Hate to rub salt in the wound, but in the future never leave anything of value in your car. Ever.

Theft of personal property from cars in So Cal is so prevalent, that can't even leave stuff in your car when shopping at the mall. It's that bad. There is a reason insurance companies do not cover personal property left in car.
