Thumbs down I accidentally left 370Z unlocked, stuff stolen, is there an auto lock feature?

So I came down one night to grab something from the trunk and left the car unlocked apparently.

That night was my night apparently, my GoPro and a really expensive company laptop were stolen from my car simply because I forgot to unlock it in my "secure" apartment building parking garage.

Question, is there a feature where the car would lock itself automatically in a few minutes after it's been turned off, confirming the key/person is not still in the car?

I'm a little irritated at myself because of this as you can imagine.

Thank you, guys and girls.

Car only locks automatically after few minutes if you did not open the door after unlocking it.

Above all, I want to give you a comfort. Several years ago someone had smashed my driver side window and got my bag CDs, and an expensive RD stolen. Even after its fix, my Z still has some scratches on the door.

You know, the Zs are pretty good-looking car. That's one of the reasons why I love my Z. But as also the hot beauties attract other guys' attention, you really need to take care of your Z from all the potential threats.

In my case, I always check to lock the door more than two times by its headlight flash, and I've never put anything easily noticeable from outside.

Hope you got minimum loss, and you can get better ptotected next time.

Bad guys try the doors on cars a lot. If they are locked and they don't see anything of value they move on to another. I'm sorry about your items being stolen. Aways lock your doors and hide your stuff. Hopefully Karma will kill whoever broke into your car.

Just a couple of questions and an observation.

1. Were the items stolen visible from outside the vehicle?

2. Did the thief do any damage to the vehicle?

FWIW, if the articles were visible from outside the vehicle, there is a good chance that having the doors unlocked may very well have allowed the thief into the vehicle without damaging it, which should be at least of some small consolation.

If the articles were not visible -- say under a cargo cover in the rear or a coat or blanket in front -- the same observation about vehicle-damage being prevented just might hold true, but maybe not, too. There just might be something worth stealing under that cargo cover or blanket and that might be all it takes for a thief to either try the door and, if locked, break in, but fast.

I recently did the same thing. Thief went in and went through everything. Took the Z leather manual, my badminton and tennis racquets and all my chump change. I think it was a homeless guy. Nonetheless, car was not damaged so that's the silver lining. I always triple tap my lock button ever since. Probably gonna need to change remote battery once every 3 months.

Any cameras in the garage to help identify the thief? So much for your neighbors.

From my personal experience, having this happen once will be enough of a reminder for you not to leave your car unlocked again.

I had stuff stolen from an unlocked car in my own driveway about 40 years ago. I doubt I have left my car unlocked more than twice since then.

I also had stuff stolen 30 years ago from another car in my driveway by someone using a slim jim.

Remembering to lock the doors and keep stuff out of view is about all the effort I'm willing to make. Hopefully there are easier nearby targets than my car.

So the consensus is no, there's no such functionality?

That's kind of silly. Why would I need my car to be unlocked for 8 hours?

Surely you're not implying that Nissan is somehow, in any way, at fault because you screwed up and forgot to lock your car doors?
