As I come up to one, I will wait behind in the passing lane until I have a clear shot at passing it entirely, then scoot past it as quickly and safely as possible... watch for left hand curves as the trailer may tend to wander into your lane as the truck goes thru the turn. Also, watch for bridge and overpasses where shoulders are non-existant, which also means your safety margin is non-existent...
