My First Upgrade via Stealership

You can mount the wing with just using automotive 2 sided tape so you don't need to drill holes. You could probably do that yourself to save money too.

Boy do I have an experience with putting a spoiler on with just two sided 3M tape and silicone adhesive.

Doesn't work at all. It does it you plan to keep the car under 60mph at all times.

I was getting onto the freeway later at night and was proceeding to the 75-80mph point and then felt this bump that only hit the back. I looked in my rear view mirror and bye bye spoiler.

Just have a shop or Nissan drill holes. Its a perfect and easy way to make it stay for good.
BeemaaZ and RumbleFish like this.

What kind of tape did you use? I put a sport spoiler on my Z before with just VHB tape around the entire perimeter and there was no way that thing was coming off without some serious heat applied to the tape.
gbrettin and Zbrah like this.

It was VHB 3M tape and automotive silicone adhesive from Home depot (forget what brand, might have been Loctite)

but as soon as I hit 75-80 mph on the fwy it flew off. I also had the Seibon Nismo Carbon Fiber Spoiler at the time so its a bit bigger than the sport spoiler. Its just a crapshoot when you just use the automotive double sided tape. Unless you live in a primarily cold and low humidity environment.

I am in socal, and when this happened last summer it was hot for our part of town. Usually in summer itd range from 75-85F but last summer was 90+F all the time usually.
Im sure its cause it never had the chance to properly set or anything but if you live anywhere with heat and humidity together constantly, I don't know if the tape would ever set unless you sat it in a shop or garage until it is immbolized

You're not supposed to wax the car right before you put the tape down

OP just screw it... literally.

There are still good dealerships out there (the service at my nearby Nissan location is the reason we bought another Nissan for my wife when the time came) where they go out of their way to make things right. It's just unfortunate that they are so hard to find these days.

You mean that not only I have to work to afford it, but I have to wash the Z too... damnnnnn

Just kidding.

I prepped the hatch well in the process. Its more of the fact that after I put it on the hatch, it was never able to dry and set because of how hot and humid it was last summer.
So I learned my lesson the hard way and decided to work a bit harder and smarter to have the money to pay my shop to install my parts including the replacement spoiler I have on there now.
