Well, so much for the Nismo, got rearended.

I got rear-ended coming home today. It's Fubar. Pictures later, busy at the moment. Creased the right rear fender, Hatch is toast, FI Exhaust is done, etc. I couldn't drive it off, the rear fender was on the tire.

Noop, not yet. Still in the box. Waiting on all my SPL stuff to come in. My biggest challenge is to find the correct body shop that will do a awesome job.

Rusty 03-04-2016 11:28 PM

It just happened today at 5:30pm. Trying to call the other idiots insurance company. No answer. It's a no name company. Getting it fixed should be a yes.

Get your ins involved. I had a similar situation with my f150... my insurance took control of everything and basically went after the other guys insurance. Put me in a rental and everything.

Best of luck, hope your neck doesnt hurt.

This is exactly what I am thinking about. I am not putting up with any crap.

KngScottieV 03-05-2016 12:10 AM

That's why you have insurance; they have a whole legal team at their disposal, and they have no problem billing the other agency. They may recommend some shops, but you always have your own choice if you want. Best thing to do is ask if the shop has some before and after pics. My mom's ex-boyfriend owned an auto repair shop and they always took photos like that to show to prospects, it's like showing off trophies.

cv129 03-05-2016 12:26 AM

At least the expensive Nismo wing looks to be untouched.

axmea? 03-05-2016 01:16 AM

Sucks but you have an opportunity here. It is a hassle though.

JC-Nismo 03-05-2016 07:34 AM

Did the quarter panel have any damage?

gr8-wrx 03-05-2016 08:52 AM

Ouch, sorry to hear that.

Zoren 370 03-05-2016 10:29 AM

Sorry to see your nismo in that shape.

What was the other party excuse to rear end you?

Call your own insurance company ASAP. Depending on the level of help they give you, get an attorney. If thy guy's company is a fly-by-night, be prepared to pay your deductible and let your insurance company subrogate the claim.

UNKNOWN_370 03-05-2016 02:47 PM

I completely feel your pain!

Motiv8dZ 03-05-2016 03:29 PM

I always call police when there's an accident and you're rear ended.

Reason being if you're rear ended, it's almost always going to be their fault (even if they say "you don't want your insurance to go up" which yours won't increase, because it'll be deemed their fault not yours.) Getting police involved makes sure they have a valid insurance because they can check on the spot. The flip side being they give you bogus info and you're left trying to find out the real info

Yeap, it is wrinkled. It didn't get to the door though. Rear strut tower looks fine, no visible damage best I can tell. If it get's past those, your done.

damn, sorry to see that. It might not be as much fun driving wise, but you can still come to Zdayz in a different car.

hrtbrknprince 03-06-2016 07:25 AM

Bummer man! You're in Claxton? I'm in the Statesboro area I think I've seen your Z around a few times. I know the feeling someone just hit my 240 hatch a couple days ago on my birthday. Hopefully you can get everything covered.

Got a good look at it today. That rear quarter is fubar. I will find out more tomorrow when it get's disassembled. Got my fingers crossed.

gbrettin 03-07-2016 08:00 PM

Good luck man. Sucks that your car got mashed.

The rear quarter is going to be expensive since it's part of the unibody. Stuff like doors and fenders are easily replaced but with a rear quarter it's either try to pull the dents and fill the remaining wrinkles with mud or cut away the bad area and weld on a fresh sheet.

Sorry to be a downer.:shakes head:

Spooler 03-08-2016 12:17 PM

Initial estimate is 10k. I asked the adjuster some questions what was on it. He missed some stuff and he knew that would be the case. Wonder how much higher it will go? I am taking dibs on 15-18k.

Spooler 03-08-2016 12:22 PM

19K is the oh crap zone. They will want to total it.

Rusty 03-08-2016 12:26 PM

If they total it. What are your plans then?

Duc_Z09 03-08-2016 12:29 PM

How are the panel gaps on the front of the car? If the body is twisted (unlikely, but possible) then it's not worth fixing. Also, 70% of Blue Book value is usually enough to cause an insurance company to write it off.
