Panel gaps are fine. I was told a 75% value, mine was a basic estimate of 25k value. We shall see. It may get ugly.

Well good luck however it goes. Would you be interested in buying it back as a track car if the insurance writes it off and lets it go cheap? Don't forget to claim depreciation if they fix it.

Here's my only (knock on wood) experience with insurance claims. It has a happy ending so maybe it will cheer you up.

I am saddened by your loss.

Spooler 03-08-2016 10:11 PM

Haven't lost it yet buddy. Got a ways to go. It's going under the knife tomorrow to see how bad it really is (disassemble). Then I will have an idea. Off to the Dr. tomorrow too. My neck and shoulder are not getting any better. This is turning out to be a F'n mess.

Rusty 03-08-2016 10:16 PM

When I got rear ended in my truck. I didn't feel it for a couple of days later. Then it felt like I got kicked in the back by a horse. Think you might be hurtin' for the next couple of days, if not longer.

Spooler 03-08-2016 11:23 PM

All of my SPL suspension parts are being delivered tomorrow. LOL

That's it. That's where the money is. See you on GTR LIFE

nismo370z.com 03-09-2016 10:18 AM

Words can't describe how much that stinks! So sorry. I hope your insurance company will be kind.

RicerX 03-09-2016 12:50 PM

Hope they total that sucker man - your rear wheels are wicked crooked from the pic... may have messed with the drivetrain some.

The important thing is that you get checked out by a doctor. You might require a bit of rehab to get yourself straight. Neck pain is no bueno, especially if you got whacked out of line, that can lead to back problems and stuff down the stretch. I've been in chiropractic care for the last several years due to an old hockey injury that reared its head - turns out my neck got whacked out of alignment and it slowly got everything else messed up along with it.

There are plenty replacement Zs (and GT-Rs... *chuckle*) out there. Get yourself straight first, because without that, you can't enjoy the fun stuff as easily.

Spooler 03-09-2016 01:23 PM

The wheels are not crooked, he hit me so hard in the rear it raised the car up, chunked me 5-10 feet forward and twisted it the way you see it in the road. The rear bumper is just hanging on.

Spooler 03-09-2016 01:24 PM

By the way, no Z to drive. I am miserable.

barncobob 03-09-2016 03:43 PM

id be reminding the ins guys both sides that your back/neck hurts, feels weird, cant sleep, etc. just to plant the seed, might be a good negotiating tool down the road..:icon14:

JARblue 03-09-2016 04:55 PM

:shakes head:

Sorry to hear, man. Hope you get things straightened out at the doctor. Neck and/or back pain is no fun

On a selfish note ... any chance your driver side door body welt is in good shape?

( Click to show/hide )
If so, would you be willing/able to swap with me if your Z gets the death sentence from the insurance company? Mine has a nasty gash in it from four years ago when the car was my wife's DD and she nicked it with a high heel. I'll send you mine and a self addressed stamped package to send yours back. I can even throw in a few bucks for your efforts :tiphat:

stansens 03-10-2016 09:01 PM

Sad picture. They say that soft tissue injuries can manifest themselves up to 72 hours later. Neck injuries can leave you with pain for decades as I have unfortunately found out. Just a suggestion but if you can you should have a Doctor examine you for cervical damage and movement limitations. I have to agree with the others that it is probably wise to involve your insurance company. I wouldn't dismiss even slight pain as it will likely get worse or show up when doing anything physical. Hope the z makes it but don't forget about yourself. Best of luck.

Jesus........... :shakes head:

Cars can always be replaced or fixed. Glad you got out of it with no major damage to yourself and that is the important thing.

Cranked up the 75' yesterday and the fuel pump pucked fuel everywhere. It is leaking around the casing of the fuel pump. Ethanol in the fuel causes some strange stuff to happen.

No bueno... sounds like the diaphragm is shot. Ethanol attacks rubber. :ugh2:

Rusty 03-14-2016 07:28 PM

I would check all of the rubber parts in the fuel system. The fuel today doesn't like the rubber in older cars. I've restored a couple of motorcycles and had problems if the fuel sat to long in the fuel system. :shakes head:

HulaGirl 03-14-2016 08:26 PM

So sorry about your Nismo. That picture is sure painful to look at it.

Yeap, that is on the agenda. Older Z's are notorious for poping fuel lines up at the motor. Pisses everywhere and can catch on fire if your unlucky. We all know I put the U in unlucky. I will be looking for a Bosch 044 pump as a replacement.

Spooler 03-14-2016 09:56 PM

Called the shop today. Car is on the frame rack. It got the rear frame rail and floor. Going to luck at it in the morning. This isn't good.

KngScottieV 03-14-2016 10:12 PM

Boo! I'm sad to hear that **** man.

Ruh-roh. You can replace hatches and bumpers till the cows come home but a tweaked unibody is something I wouldn't want to fix on a nice car like this.:wtf2:

Yeap, it depends on how far it got. At or past the suspension mounts is a no go. Guess we will have to see. Maybe it is not that bad. Don't know yet.

Spooler 03-15-2016 02:00 PM

Looks like it will be a total loss. Not happy at all. Now I wish I would have punched that driver in the nose.

Hotrodz 03-15-2016 02:03 PM

That sucks my friend...I am so sorry to hear that. No it's decision time on what to do next!

Honestly man - after a wreck like that, I'd rather have them total it. That car will never be the same again.

Make sure you're compensated enough so you can comfortably replace it. This is all a temporary pain in the ***, but you'll get through it. There are many more Nismos out there.

OptionZero 03-15-2016 02:21 PM

If the frame is bent, don't even bother. Total it. You'll never be able to sell a car w/ a bent frame, and it'll never be the same.

:iagree:

Just a big-*** speed bump. Good luck in your quest for a replacement.

mults 03-15-2016 02:56 PM

Sad to hear and yes, totaling may be the best thing even though it's not always pleasant. If it isn't totaled, it may be harder to sell at a later date (Carfax), and no matter how good it is fixed, there may be some unforeseen issues that arise later.

Good luck with your decision and hope you're feeling better soon...
