The mpg only goes down because you want to get into the throttle more.
The fuel mapping doesn't change just for an exhaust mod or not enough to really change anything enough to notice

I average 18.9 mpg (what the car says. Never reset it just for a work commute itself) and my daily commute is 25-30 miles no highways. Also I'm not easy on the throttle either lol

Unless you're a 20 year old dying for attention get the HKS Hi-Power catback. That's the exhaust the Z should come with stock.

The Fast Intentions catback with stock cats were ricer loud with massive 100db+ (measured) drone inside the car. That will literally make you deaf over time. The drone was headache-inducing.
The HKS, in contrast, uses Helmholtz resonators to remove all sound at the frequency that resonates in the 370Z cabin, for a drone-free experience. When you're idling along it sounds little louder than stock, but put your foot halfway or more into it and it wakes up with an aggressive growl that still is never annoyingly loud. It's what a sports car should sound like, IMO. It's more expensive but oh so worth it. |

Convenience mostly. 51 mile commute to work. The annoying part is that I can easily get 27-29MPG from the Z, except traffic gets in the way and slows me down and kills the mileage. I'm getting better at slow acceleration, but really I just want to be able to cruise at a steady 80MPH the whole time and I'll return 27MPG.

Actually most places are trying to liquidate the hks because it doesn't sell. Found a few for 1100-1300. Only Z1 is charging 2k for it
