You mentioned being sore (which is bound to happen when you're rear-ended). Make sure their insurance pays for any medical/chiropractor bills incurred.

On that note, I'd recommend going to a chiropractor. I got rear-ended 30 years ago and went. Within a few months, everything was back in place where it should be. My neck and back were messed up.

Sorry to see this though. It's bad enough when you've had one for a few years, but a few weeks is rough.

It doesn't appear to be any damage to the fenders, which would be more complicated to repair. Looks like the hatch is good too. I think it looks skewed due to the fascia being shifted.

Let's us know how the repairs go....hope to see you back on the forum soon!
Both fenders have damage too

Sorry for you misfortune but Im glad you're okay. It could have been worse! I hope it doesn't diminish your car value. Judging by the photos, I don't think anything major is damaged. Hopefully it's just body panels.

GL with your repair and I hope your Z makes speedy recovery!

Sucks. Yours was worse than mine. Was rear ended too. Your bumper will require full replacement. Absolutley not fixable not to mention the metal pieces behind the shell. Find a body shop you like and trust.

Even though you won't be paying except your deduct will be a pricey fix. My KIA I used to have..2 inch gash required complete replacement of bumper. Was like 1200 bucks!

Hi There,

I just skimmed trough the other posts but had a similar situation with my Father's Porsche Panamera GTS.

He got rear ended with 200 miles and we tried to figure out how to get a diminished value claim.

Short answer - You generally can not get a diminished value claim unless you sell the car. The reason being is the diminished value is the difference between what your car is worth for sale without any damage and the difference when factoring in the damage/car fax report is the "diminished value".

However, if you can get the dealer to buy it back for whatever price they offer you and can convince the insurance company it is a new car and to set the diminished value payment equal to the difference you might have a shot, but it is highly unlikely. Primarily because they may say that as soon as you drove it off the lot (Especially with a Z) it has depreciated astronomically and the diminished value difference wouldn't be worth it.

If your car is long used and this happened it may be a different story though.

Sorry about the situation, I know how frustrating it is. Best of luck and let us know how you make out.

Been down the road with diminished value. They will try to pull out a formula used in a State Farm Case. It is not right!. This value is negotiable. There are people that can help you with getting the correct value. With a new car you should get thousands. Do not let them push you around. They are not your friends. You were the one done dirty. Good Luck!

Just be sure to tell the other driver's ins. co. that the more grief they give you over diminished value the more your neck and back are hurting, causing your wife/girlfriend to bitch about her "loss of services".
