Line up a 2016 nismo and ill take the nismo

EzDz 01-20-2016 03:14 PM

I test drove a 2015 gt and told the sales guy I was a serious buy and I wanted to beat on it so I did.

Test drove the only nismo in Pittsburg around the block and wanted the z 10000x more. Mustangs are fast but still feel like turds. I wanted a roush but that still doesnt help the fact its a mustang.

The R does have a A/C option, however you are still stuck with a crappy radio... almost as bad as the radio in my 370z. Also, unless you know somebody who has one the chance of a dealer giving you a test drive in an R let alone a GT350 is slim to none. :(

I had to go out of state 1800 miles just to find/order my GT350 sight unseen and no test drive. This "track" car was built to fight the Europeans. I think everyone is still afraid of the GTR though!

It does: It's called the GT350

I think the #1 reason why I am not a Mustang fan is because you see SOOOO MANY OF THEMMMMMM on the road

Oh look there's one...there's another one. There actually 4 sitting outside my window at work....4....

Same with Camaros....

I'm not fond of the mustang seating position and steering feel. That's the deal breaker for me.

I totally agree here!!!

Reason why I still love my 370z. There are so many damn BMW's, Tesla's, and Porsche's at work. Sadly the Z can't keep up with those I had to add the GT350. Believe it or not, there are 4x more GTRs than GT350's at my work.

Spstone 01-22-2016 06:57 AM

Took the Z to it's first local car meet the other night. The mustang guys just wanted to talk about how slow it is, and how a GT350R could out track it. Of course there was not a single GT350R present just a row of coyotes with random mods.

On the other hand the BMW, Porsche, and even the loan Aston owner where talking about how much they liked the body kit and color combo on it and how well they are built for the price. Even had 2 M4 guys talk about getting handled at the track by one.

Just goes to show the difference in mentality of a lot of mustang owners vs other car guys. Which was also one of the things that turned me off of a mustang.

Take those same mustang guys, put them on a track with similarly track modded mustangs and 370Z, they wont be talking about how slow it is for long lol

Spstone 01-22-2016 10:51 AM

^^^^ when there are the amount mullets involved as where I don't try to worry about proving speed or not, and fear seeing one on a road course. It was just a comparison of mindsets.

Awesome car, but it's not comparing apples to apples. I would take a early '70s Morgan plus 8 SS any day in exchange for my Z. But I would never say it's because it's better car than my Z, just some thing I've always wanted and extremely enjoyable to drive.

njobe89 01-22-2016 11:36 AM

no where do i state that i'd choose it over my current car. all that states is "only mustang i'd want to won"

nothing more, nothing less.

They were jelly, their car don't look as good. That's how dudes talk when they drive ugly or common cars.

I personally love any thing with wheels. If it's your car and you have pride and put work into it I'm not going to put it down. I've seen every thing in the custom car world from pimped out volvo station wagons to full gold wrapped rolls royces. While it may not be for me I don't feel it's my place to talk poorly about your car unless you ask my opinion, and really if I don't know you I'm probably going to hold back a little. These guys just offered up how much I over payed for a NISMO and how there really not that fast. I wasn't surprised because I've seen the mustang guys make the same stir up the same stuff when guys post on the facebook C&C page. Just kind of got caught off guard they would do it in person.

I'm also not completly anti-mustang. I drove and blew this one up multiple times over about 10 years.

I like the Mustang, I may eventually own one. I would really like a GT350-R.

That said, they're a little big IMO. I like the size of the Z.

tonythetiger 01-29-2016 10:38 AM

I really liked the interior the z offers in comparison to the stangs

Some dealers are offering a free dog with a new mustang.......that way you will have someone to walk home with.....

Google Mustang jokes and be prepared to laugh your A$$ off!

I actually like the new 'stang but I like my Z better.

joentown 01-30-2016 02:30 PM

Would there even be a need for a discussion or comparo if the Z had 400+ HP?

Let's face it, more HP is what most of us want.

Ignorant people also forget weight and weight distribution from front/rear kills horsepower. Great example is the alfa romero 4c 2200lb car 237bhp does 0-60 is low 4seconds and top speed of over 160mph.

UNKNOWN_370 01-31-2016 05:38 PM

The number of horses matters a lot less to me. What matters is that the engine feels powerful for the car it's in. IE the Alfa Romeo. 237HP puts down all that performance. That's what matters most.

Lotus runs fast with comparatively little horsepower.

Fun Facts

I crunched some numbers just for my entertainment and thought I would share them with you.

370Z Base (non Nismo):
Displacement - 226 cubic inches
Horse Power - 332
= 1.46 HP/CI
Weight - 3232 Lb
= 9.73 Lb/HP

370Z Nismo:
Displacement - 226 cubic inches
Horse Power - 350
= 1.55 HP/CI
Weight 3232 (?)
= 9.23 Lb/HP

2015 Mustang GT 5.0:
Displacement - 302 cubic inches
Horse Power - 435
= 1.44 HP/CI
Weight - 3810 Lb
= 8.75 Lb/HP

The "old" VQ37HR engine produces MORE HP per cubic inch than the new Coyote 5.0

The 'Stang has a better power to weight ratio.

Performance advantage goes to the Mustang until you reach a corner. The lighter weight of the Z will give it a handling advantage. YMMV

TBatt 02-03-2016 08:24 AM

Fun Facts

I'm pretty sure the Mustang would win a drag race but the Z would win an autocross. At least that is what is happening around here.

Lots of factors involved, especially driver skills.

Z driver - "I did pretty good on that run"

Mustang driver - "somebody hold my beer, hey yaw, watch this!"

This points to why even an NA Z35 would be awesome. In 2009, the Mustang still had the 4.6L worth 315HP, now they're pushing out more with a more advanced engine that weighs roughly the same.

Then you have the Japanese manufacturers innovating structural design: the new Mazda 6 sedan weighs a couple hundred pounds less than our Zs and is quite a bit larger. Same with the Accord sedan. Look at the new Miata weighing almost nothing comparatively.

Really, Ford should have made a new Capri based off the Mustang that was smaller and had the 2.7L V6 from the F-series. That would be more of a Z competitor.

it's also a lot more raw than every other car on the market. but yes... they do make great power to weight ratio

I liked the previous front design with the more nostalgic look. the new one is kinda eh.

I did like the rear tail lights and how the blinkers moved as you indicated. that was neat
