Is this dangerous .. ??

I own a 2010 Sport. Here's my serious question. Would it be dangerous to keep putting the windshield mount with suction cups always on my windshield ? Some years ago

I own a 2010 Sport.

Here's my serious question.

Would it be dangerous to keep putting the windshield mount with suction cups always on my windshield ?

Some years ago someone broke my driver side's window and stole my RD. After that I purchased RD again. I still love it but actually just got tired of putting it installed everytime I turn on my engine.

Of course I'll not put anything else in my car. But I just wonder how others would think about this. ??

Personally, I believe that the less you 'advertise' to would-be thieves, the less of a chance you have of having your vehicle broken into. It takes all of 3 seconds to mount or dismount a radar detector.

You kind of answered you own question. You had a break-in and theft, so yes, sounds like for you, where you park your car etc, it's dangerous. Or are you talking about just leaving the mount attached and not the RD?

Me, I have always left my radar detector mounted. Either on the mirror-mount or by suction mount depending on which car I'm driving and I've never had a problem over 30 years.

Yes I was talking about just leaving the mount attached and not the RD.

I live in California. Years ago one day I forgot to take out my bag which I put at the back space of passenger's side (maybe .. as I remember), and next morning I found out one window was smashed and got my bag stollen also with my RD. It has been a big trauma for me.

No problems over 30 years even when you leave your RD mounted !! I really envy your safety.

I leave my mount on, but always take the RD off.

Since you live/park in a high risk area, I'd give as few clues to what might be in the car as possible. Crook sees mount and may decide that RD is in glove box or that there may be other valuables inside. Might be worthwhile to find a mount with toggles on the suction cups to make on/off operations easier.
YMMV

I doubt leaving your mount stuck to the windshield will entice or detour a thief from breaking into your car. Try an alarm system and don't worry about your RD.
