Both the GT-R and the 370Z are called Fairlady in Japan? Weird.

Only the 370z is called "Fairlady" in Japan. The GT-R comes from the Skyline family, but no longer carries that name. It's nickname is Godzilla.

I could be wrong, but that's what I was able to pick up from the web.

Here are the cars in Japan:
GT-R (Japan) - GT-R (USA)
Skyline Coupe (Japan) - G37 Coupe (USA)
Fairlady Z (Japan) - 370z (USA)
Skyline Crossover (Japan) - Infiniti something (USA) not 100% sure which one

Note: This is not all of them, these are just the top 4 in sport car drop down, there are two more but not even sure if they are sold in the USA.

We should specify that the the GT-R you mentioned is the R35. The R34 and earlier model GTRs where Skylines.

G35's and G35C's are both skylines and skyline coupes respectively. Just makes it more confusing...

Are sentra's still called sunny? Lol
They call them 'baldhead' in mexico "Tsuru". Well, it means crane but in J-urban slang, tsuru means baldy.

"The Nissan Sentra is a compact car produced by automaker Nissan Motors and is generally a rebadged export version of the Japanese Nissan Sunny. The name "Sentra" is not used in Japan, where it is currently known as Bluebird Sylphy."

Thanks, dudes! I was all confused on that. All those corporate strategies to rebadge the same models is baffling, at times. BTW, although the "Godzilla" is the fastest of the two, the looks of the 370 are more appealing to me, besides the sticker price, obviously!

Every time I look at the GT-R, I think the looks and performance somehow got switched at the factory.
