I feel like Kevin on Shark Tank. Hyundai is making great strides and doing good things, but I don't want to take those strides with them. I'm out :D I want a car that can compete with the likes of the Mustang GT, Cayman, and yes, the Z.

Important thing is you realize this is your own opinion. I've owned both cars. Both cars are great in their own right and both have their pitfalls. really depends on what you're in the market for at the time, budget and if you're open minded in trying out Hyundai.

I do. Like I said, I just have a preference for Z's. To each his own though. :tiphat:

Yep, I get ya.

Anyway just to go off topic for a sec, this forum is great because we can have open discussions without someone trying to pick a stupid internet argument. I likes.

YES... even if you have owned both its still all personal opinion

but the facts cannot be disputed..which are:

the Z is a real sports car, not a sporty coupe
performs better than the gen in every way
its hertitage
lineage
motorsport history
have any of you even read up on mr K and all the awards the Z car has been a part of the last few decades? At one point it was the best selling sports car in history with the corvette trailing it.

The Gen is a great car, price comparable, but not in the same league.

if the Z really goes away into this abortion crossover, it will be a sad day for Z car enthusiasts ....if the gen KEEPS playin its cards right from that point on...it could secure and build from where the Z car dies..... gosh thats hard to type

Youre right, its NOT in the same league. As the Z isnt in the same league as the Genesis. I.E. comfort, convenience, tech, etc. Though they are both niche cars, the Genesis shouldn't masquerade around the fact its a Grand Touring machine. Great on the highway and open roads and ok on the switchbacks, though certainly not a Z.

It's nice to see Hyundai trying to compete with the Infinity g35.

Best of luck to them in their endeavors.

Just for SnG's, i'd like to see if anyone has test driven one.

I'm not a fan of the new front fascia on the genesis though. I had the 2012 model which I prefer the looks over the refresh.

In all honesty, you can't really compare the 2. One is a 2 seater sport coupe and the other is a "luxury" sport coupe. BUt if you ever have a chance to test drive one, you'll def see that they're pretty decent rides. I really do miss my 2012 Genesis although I love my 2016 Z too. If I had to pick between the genesis coupe 3.8 and a 370z it'd be a super hard choice which would boil down to whether or not I need practicality.

The only reason I was okay with purchasing a Z and not another Genesis is that I already bought my wife a 2014 loaded out MDX which has all the creature comforts for when we go on trips and when we decide to have kids. Plus, my friend had owned a 350z when I had my G35 several years back and def loved how the Z felt.

BTW, I'm not some type of Hyundai lover.... I just like all types of vehicles from all manufacturers. Hell, I even really like those new 'stangs and those new focus ST's are pretty beast too. :driving:

Not at all. both are sweet cars for sure that are tailored for different audiences. HOnestly, if you asked me to buy a Hyundai 10 years ago, I would have laughed. Things are different now. after having owned one for 2.5 years and putting about 80k miles on the car and really getting to know it, Hyundai really stepped up their game. I tell my wife all the time that the 2 cars I miss the most are the '09 civic SI I had and my 2012 Genesis. I'll list some of the cars I owned that I compared to.

2000 civic EX (auto)
2003 Accord V6 EX-L coupe (6MT)
2004 Acura TL Tech (6MT)
2006 G35 coupe (6MT)
2009 civic SI (6MT)
2012 Genesis coupe 3.8 Track (6MT)
2012 Hyundai Elantra Sedan Limited (auto) - (wife's car, sold my 2012 genesis and bough her the MDX when we got hitched)
2014 MDX SH-AWD Tech
2016 370z Base (6MT)

I've put 100,000 miles or more on each vehicle except for the 2 newest I listed and all were bought new.

:iagree:

See I tried Hyundai and for me... It was Z all the way. But I try to be objective. My preference is the Z. But I can say the truth without feeling like I have to defend Nissan's flaws. Most of all, I'm not a brand snob. If a car is good. It's good. No buts or excuses. Yes the Nissan is better.
But... Hyundai is catching up faster than everyone expected and dudes don't like the idea. I have seat time behind a gencoupe. Not just a spin around the block.
One thing I gotta say. When you turn on a 3.8 track cold. The grumble sounds healthy. The seating position is good for it being more designed for comfort. Steering is sharp and nicely weighted. It has great pick up and in street driving it corners well.
I had the opportunity to drive a Genesis coupe 2.0 on Puerto Rico mountains of Arecibo, Cayey, Fajardo and Caguas. The Hyundai turbo was designed for charging up mountains, not driving on flat streets. People just don't know. I was impressed with the 2.0 premium. I can only imagine the Spec on the mountain

I'm not mad that Hyundai is catching up. I'm mad Nissan is letting them with no response.:shakes head:

This is sad, because the Z32tt was compared to a C4 Vette bitd. And the Corvette has always been the higher end sports car. Now the Z34 is compared to a Hyundai. Hyundai has progressed while Nissan regressed. The new Genesis sedan is nice though.

Exactly. And all that history won't be worth shyt if that happens.
Just like Toyota and Honda wasn't worth **** the second they dropped their racing heritage.

I dont think the Z has regressed, they just havent done squat in 6 years. Its STILL a better sports car than the Genesis but...like you said, you snooze, you lose. They NEED a killer Z35, or just kill the Z for a few years. Dont half as$ this sh*t with a "Zuke".

Six years, it came out in '09. Thats 7 years. Oh, they pumped sound through the vents and gave them LEDS.
