Bulletin just posted - ecu noise replacement - nice work members!!!!

Just got a call from NISSAN service in D.C. and they said you all were right. The ECU is problematic and the corporate rep out here today verified this and they are replacing ALL nissan 370zs and inifiniti G37s ECUs now.

BRING THEM IN!

Problem Solved: Elimination of High Frequency Noise after 5 mins idle.

*************BULLETIN UPDATE**************10/28/2009****************
Ok guys. I went to pick up my car and found some information. The Bulletin on this noise is "coming" in a few days/weeks. My dealer called in a "factory rep" who immediately knew the problem and said to go ahead and order the replacement ECUs. However, the darn things are on backorder. arggggg. There is no bulletin # or info I can give you...BUT if you call your dealer service or go there, you have to ask them to call their FACTORY REP and all of them know of this problem. They will order a new part for you and when they get it will call you. I'm stuck with this noise until my part arrives.

That's all I have...spread the word. I guess this is fresh news and the ball has just started rolling with this process.

theDreamer 10-27-2009 04:26 PM

In for more, is this all or only if a tech claims you need it?

natenyc123 10-27-2009 04:30 PM

all models have the noise...all need it. Make sure your tech hears well and your general service manager looks this up..its FRESH

280z/300zx 10-27-2009 04:41 PM

So is this something that dealers will start sending letters to owners about or is it more owners will have to bring the car in complaining/requesting this service? I hear it on occasion but nothing too bad. If it's something I'll have to fight with the dealer about I'll just wait.

natenyc123 10-27-2009 04:42 PM

no fighting...just go in ...tell them your buddy got it done..its a fresh bulletin and say you want it replaced. Call ahead and ask..i'm sure you'll be ok. The dealer makes money off of this stuff anyways. hehe

phelan 10-27-2009 04:42 PM

Oh hell yes!

HOWEVER I would like to see proof of this bulletin please before I go prancing into the service dept.

...Doesn't this mess w/ people who got tunes already??

jookiyaya 10-27-2009 04:43 PM

wow i never had that problem but then again i never really listened closely to my Z because someone is either talking to me or the music is blaring out at ridiculous decibels
most probably the latter... haha. i think ill listen to my Z when its idle next time i take it for a spin.

Zsteve 10-27-2009 05:02 PM

cool at least its before we all get reflased too.

And this needs to be a sticky too.

X2. Any form of physical proof regarding a bulletin? Has anyone else confirmed this? Seems fishy.

AK370Z 10-27-2009 05:22 PM

I haven't seen any bulletin yet . OP, did they REPLACED your ECU yet? please keep us posted.

thanks

phelan 10-27-2009 05:25 PM

FWIW I'm going to call my service dept. today and ask if they've gotten any TSBs for the Z recently.

kannibul 10-27-2009 05:38 PM

Hopefully this isn't a horrible trolling attempt.

14 posts. Lots of noise-threads on the first page...

I'd put money this is some 13yr old kid...

Only a handful Zs had this noise. I do not have any noise whatsoever

phelan 10-27-2009 06:02 PM

those of us that have it (myself included), it could drive you borderline insane.

i hope this isn't a troll.

NewlyIMPORTed 10-27-2009 06:03 PM

i have this noise and sometimes it is very loud and other times i don't notice but ill stop by my dealership tom and see what the deal is

Smallywood 10-27-2009 06:06 PM

I've noticed this a couple times, but it's not consistent and I don't remember last time I heard it. I know the problem exists though.

Portlander 10-27-2009 06:09 PM

Would it be safe to assume that the 2010's will have this ECU issue already taken care prior to arrival in the US?

Maybe, but do not assume that they did fix it.

natenyc123 10-27-2009 06:31 PM

MY new ECU is being shipped in overnight. I said I won't take my car back until it is. My ears hurt too much. This is legit...i'm not putting the cart before the horse. I posted so everyone knows...its important to me.

natenyc123 10-27-2009 06:35 PM

I'm a Federal Gov't contractor and am 32 years old..not a 13 year old kid. I just joined today to find answers and I did and I actually told the service department about what you all said. I posted thanks to all the members on this board for their posts. I'm not wasting anyone's time. The dealer I went to took my complaint far and fast...I get things rolling fast I suppose. The dealer went onto the lot..idled all their 370z cars and after 5 mins listened carefully and they found this was a problem in all their cars. I know this annoys people and people are frustrated so I posted.
Again..thanks guys for the help and i'm glad this was resolved in less than 24 hours.
Good luck folks.

phelan 10-27-2009 06:36 PM

^ if that's true, your dealership is WAY more proactive than most nissan dealerships...

YA LISTENIN, FUSZ?! :icon17:

natenyc123 10-27-2009 06:38 PM

I live in a very high end area with all FEDS all working day and night ..cars roll in and out of this place..and they have to be on the ball..or else..no one would go. They also have 3 GTRs on the floor.

semtex 10-27-2009 07:32 PM

So do you have a TSB number or a link to the TSB?

Smallywood 10-27-2009 07:33 PM

370Zsteve 10-27-2009 07:36 PM

Somebody put out an alert for Fusz to see if this is a BS troll or for real.

Set the Bat Light for Midwest.

ssqpolo 10-27-2009 07:41 PM

noise? on all the 370s? maybe im just too deff to hear it.

Smallywood 10-27-2009 09:08 PM

Feds only drive G37s, Z34s, and GT-Rs...

CrownR426 10-27-2009 09:14 PM

Okay so what's the deal?!
Do I have to contact my dealership or what?!

RCZ 10-27-2009 09:28 PM

no noise here either...I wont be taking it in unless it starts making noise...

chris410 10-27-2009 09:36 PM

Odd...I changed my oil and had the car idling for a bit and it was completely fine. Is this happening on autos and manuals?

natenyc123 10-27-2009 10:41 PM

jeeeze..i'll take a picture of the paper work or the computer with the bulletin and then post it..lol
can't believe people think i'm full of it. I'll post tomorrow night. Later guys..thanks again.

dcrew1x 10-27-2009 10:51 PM

I have a 6MT and I have no noise issues; That or I just don't notice it.

Can you describe this "ECU" noise? Like what it sounds in comparison to...And when it occurs?

Either way thanks for letting us know. Most of us just don't want to come into a dealership not knowing if we even have a problem or not.

bloodo 10-27-2009 10:59 PM

nice OP!! When I first hear people talking about high frequency noise, I thought they got a lemon, but I actually try to listen to it very closely in my car (turn my head side to side), I could actually hear it pretty clearly. Guess, I will bring my car in to get a new ECU.

Thanks OP,

m4a1mustang 10-28-2009 06:17 AM

Hope this is true. I have the noise and it bugs the **** out of me.

If the OP is lying... he is banned from all future mid-atlantic meets!

CrownR426 10-28-2009 06:33 AM

OP, hurry it up!
I want to check if I have to go tomorrow and bitch!

Sorry, Nate. You'll have to excuse the rest of us, burned too many times by nutcases posting BS!

Looking forward to your posting of the bulletin! :tiphat:
