Great news, thanks natenyc123.

While it hasn't been every car, its been quite a few, and mine did not start doing it until 8000 miles. I figured Nissan would get a fix sooner or later, but was not looking forward to going back and forth with the service dept.

Thanks again, great news!

natenyc123 10-28-2009 08:38 AM

The noise is a high pitch frequency that is coming from the ECU ( says the dealer) and not the fuel pump as first thought. If you turn the radio off and leave your car on for at least 5 mins it is there..faint..but there. As I put more miles on my Z it seems to be getting worse. I have 7,000 plus on mine now and I can't bare it. Hope this helps

370Zsteve 10-28-2009 08:41 AM

Will you be posting a pic of the bulletin soon? :tiphat:

*************BULLETIN UPDATE**************
Ok guys. I went to pick up my car and found some information. The Bulletin on this noise is "coming" in a few days/weeks. My dealer called in a "factory rep" who immediately knew the problem and said to go ahead and order the replacement ECUs. However, the darn things are on backorder. arggggg. There is no bulletin # or info I can give you...BUT if you call your dealer service or go there, you have to ask them to call their FACTORY REP and all of them know of this problem. They will order a new part for you and when they get it will call you. I'm stuck with this noise until my part arrives.

That's all I have...spread the word. I guess this is fresh news and the ball has just started rolling with this process.

Hope you're right. This is my one aggravation with the car. The noise is loud. :tiphat:

can't believe people think i'm full of it. I'll post tomorrow night. Later guys..thanks again.

To say that "all" 370's have it may have something to do with our sceptisism.

What dealership did you work with? I'll follow up to verify.

I'd like to speak with them as well. I'm in NYC area, so it will be a cheap phone call for me. Should I speak with the Service Manager? What is his name?

phelan 10-28-2009 10:25 AM

Fusz, where are you?!

natenyc123 10-28-2009 10:30 AM

natenyc123 10-28-2009 10:31 AM

natenyc123 10-28-2009 10:32 AM

Ok..i'm done posting on this thread..thanks again for everyone who tried to help me out ....this noise ticked me off. I'll post again if I have any problems in the future..email me through this if you have any other questions..
LATER

kenchan 10-28-2009 10:43 AM

it's funny you guys mention this because when i test drove a platinum silver i recall hearing it. im a musician and have good hearing. its like you turn your head one way and the pitch just hangs there in your ear. immediately wanted to EQ that out. :D

i mentioned it to the sales guy since he rode with me and he said he couldn't hear it. he also said he's getting old and can't hear many things. i remember joking around with him that i have perfect hearing but i can't hear my wife sometimes. :D

i later changed my mind on the color and went with silver... test drove my car that i currently own and i didn't hear that pitch. i guess i got lucky.

I'd rather you post again when the bulletin gets out.

Forrest 10-28-2009 11:27 PM

I cant hear the noise from the ECU to often BUT soon as my brother got into the car it was his first complaint. I would like it to get fixed so passengers don't complain my 35k car annoys them.

Zeto 11-01-2009 01:23 PM

Ok just this weekend I started hearing it. I thought it was interference form the radio or just me but I can definitely hear it. And just like Kenchan says, when you tilt your head it hangs in your ear. Let's hope the dealer comes through on this.

Mark5092 11-01-2009 03:14 PM

Talked with the service manager at Hunt Nissan in Chattanooga, TN who is a good friend of mine. No bulletin as of Friday Oct. 30, knows nothing about any 370Z ECU replacement

Smallywood 11-01-2009 03:58 PM

Same with my dealership connections... There is no TSB for this yet...

TheWeatherman 11-01-2009 06:50 PM

Well, something interesting I've noticed. Fact has it, the G37 has this same problem, rumor has it that the EX35 has it as well. This all worked out perfectly. My sister owns a 2008 EX35 with 14,000 miles on it. I live near the city we get our Infinitis serviced at. I also own a 2009 FX35 besides my Z. I CANNOT hear the high-pitched noise in my FX. I CAN hear it lightly in my sister's EX35. It's not as loud as the 370Z, but it's there. Same pitch... Similar location. I think the Infiniti SUV's must have the ECU hidden behind more sound insulation.

I'm trying to get in touch with my customer service rep, but we are playing phone tag. This could be kind of a biggie for Nissan and Infiniti. My Z makes my ears ring. The EX was much less, but it's there. Thank God my FX doesn't have this problem. I have 12,000 miles on the FX and about the same on the Z. I am really ticked about this stupid "ringing" noise. It actually feels good to get in my FX and hear things normally. The EX, eh, so-so, but that ringing, loud or soft, shouldn't be there to begin with. What a blunder.

phelan 11-01-2009 07:04 PM

I'm going to be somewhat annoyed if this was a troll thread though...sigh

texmedic 11-01-2009 07:13 PM

I swear i'm not hijacking the thread but A, I have the noise and B, what ever came of that Tire pressure sensor nut TSB, I went to my dealer and they havent heard anything. Am I destined to be show at the dealer with phantom TSBs guy?

If the OP is lying... he is banned from all future mid-atlantic meets!

LOL!!! I was thinking the same thing :)

natenyc123 11-02-2009 08:30 AM

My dealer called me to tell me the new ECU will arrive on Nov 13th. It is the capacitor in the ECU that had to be reworked. The noise is such a pain in the a$$. It can't be healthy to hear this frequency each time you drive.

natenyc123 11-02-2009 08:34 AM

Glad people are realizing this problem and don't think i'm a fake. I'm a real inifiniti/ nissan enthusiast. I just put in generation 3 stillens by myself and the 370z sounds great. Lots more power. If anyone knows of a plenum spacer for the 370z or some other mods to make to get me more power..i'm all ears.

Don't speak for "everyone" - I don't believe you, and I think a number of other people likely do not as well.

You're being a little rough on the guy, he's just reporting his experience. If you are that cynical please call his dealer and report the conversation here.

A capacitor makes sense since they can be used to filter frequencies. Hopefully the fix really is that easy!

lemansz20 11-02-2009 10:15 AM

I cant believe some of you, the guy is posting his experience, stop being little girls. If you dont believe him, he posted the name of the dealer so call yourself and stop being so ridiculous.

I dont have the Z yet, but have heard this noise in a friends. Glad their is something to fix it, the capacitor does make alot of sense, agreed with jungleb.

phelan 11-02-2009 10:38 AM

It seems like it's only his dealership that is understanding and willing to help.

I've called three in SoCal, and they are clueless.

But theoretically, the capacitor is the right call to make...so there's hope yet!

fuct 11-02-2009 11:24 AM

ease up on the guy fellas! damn!

billydsz 11-02-2009 12:53 PM

Hey I am having this exact problem. Not sure why some of you are being hard on the guy. The ECU is the problem, and a capacitor will make the kind of noise I am hearing. So if he is a troll, he's a well educated one.:twocents:

Pointman 11-02-2009 01:12 PM

My car makes the noise as well and it is very annoying. Sitting at idle, warm exhuast, and no radio, I can clearly hear it. You really noitce it when you turn your head:icon14:. Just a guess, the ecu must be under the passenger side glove box area. That is where I hear the sound eminating from. I do not hear well to begin with, due to my line of work, but even I can hear it. If your car were to make this noise I feel you would also hear it with out a problem. If you do not hear it no worries for you. Hope the OP is not a troll.

natenyc123 11-02-2009 02:53 PM

Ok....obviously there is a problem that everyone is experiencing..or nearly everyone is experiencing. We all know how difficult dealers are and how they care and some don't care. The part will be available soon enough so in a few weeks you all will be cleared of me thinking I was up to this "trolling" thing..or whatever that means..lol

Same here, but I've only had mine a lil over week. But I've listened for this noise and I still haven't heard it.

tcarretti 11-02-2009 05:16 PM

Gee, give the guy a break! It's not like he's trying to sell you something. I swear, this is why I left the Evo forum...

Didn't your mother tell you if you didn't have anything nice to say..... (fill in the blank...)

Roger, over and out....

TheWeatherman 11-03-2009 08:49 AM

I just spoke with my Midwest Consumer Affairs rep yesterday. I explained that some of the Infiniti line-up is experiencing the ringing noise as well. She went accross the hallway and found out they have been reporting it too and are working on the solution.

Unfortunately, she did not know anything about a TSB coming, but then again, it seems like she really didn't pry heavily into the issue. She just stated that they are aware, and working on the problem. We'll see what happens. Her advice was to check back with my dealer if a fix comes out, and if not, my service advisor will call me. I guess we'll see what happens. Sorry I don't have much more info on the situation. I just told her to be aware this is a problem for a lot of us and to document that another complaint has come in. Now... the waiting game.

Who said anything derogatory? I'm just saying there's no TSB out, otherwise it would be ALL OVER THE PLACE. This guy started a thread making a claim there is one, and well, where is it?

tcarretti 11-03-2009 09:59 AM

So calling someone a troll isn't derogatory? Gee, I guess I missed that day in Sunday school...

Whatever... have a great day!

tcarretti 11-03-2009 10:00 AM

BTW...

If you didn't say anything derogatory, why did you assume that my post was directed at you... I never mentioned your name....
