A fixit ticket has no amount because it is just that, a ticket to fix a vehicle defect.

Biggest problem I see is OP attitude; he doesn't seem to accept the fact that the CHP officer cut him some slack by giving him a 'fixit' ticket for the tint. He could have been ticketed for no front plate, and probably a host of other violations. It's amazing how the violations stack up when the driver cops an attitude. IMHO, OP should just remove the tint, get it inspected, and call it a day.

I predict OP will have to remove the tint from the windows and wind up paying a fine for contempt. :stirthepot:

Seriously, take your lumps and move on. I do not run a front plate. I get hit every couple of years for it. I know it's illegal and I do it anyway. So when I get popped for it, I write a check and move on. It was my choice that earned me the ticket.

And any time I'm talking to a cop, it's "yes sir / no sir." They have the power to really, really ruin your day. If you are respectful, it's amazing how many tickets end up being warnings.

I'm going to be honest I didn't read OP's post because tl;dr and figured it was a bunch of whining nor did I read any replies and just posted to get my +1.
But now it seems there's some drama so it's piqued my interest :drama:

He pulled you over for the lack of front plate, right? That's cause enough.

yes, But if i get the case dismissed based on no proof by officer then i wont get a fine because I didn't get write up for front license plate.

Well, have fun in court then!:icon18:

The officer was trying to let you off easy with a fixit ticket

I think you overestimate your chances. Usually when it's a cop's word versus a member of the general public, the cop usually wins. How much of your time are you willing to devote to this?

You can see a tint line on a front windshield. If you know what you're looking for. Take the ticket

So you would rather waste a whole day in court vs paying fine ?
Dunno about you but my days are way more valuable than spending all day in court

AMEN to those words. Time is $$$$.

You only go to court if you're fighting. The whole system is rigged to make people say f' it, I'll just pay. For a fix-it, it might be worth it.

I get my max 2 extensions and then do trial by declaration and then show up. Usually get reduced, if nothing.

birdman71 07-31-2015 05:58 PM

:iagree:

The time I can spend in court all day is a day that I can make a couple hundred dollars sitting in my chair doing what I need to do to make money. Plus if you buckle down and make that day more of punishment and push yourself to make back the money you spent on the ticket that day, Then heck that is a lot more productive and easier than stressing in court.

Plus if you end up losing you will be incorporating the court costs into your fine for not only your tint but your license plate too.
