I would have thought it would be a close race, there times are similar to ours from what I have seen on the internet. Now the real test will be to line up with one. Being they are a V8 and all that HP I actually would think there numbers would be better but Matt let me know when that happens and I show up and see if a 7AT makes a diff too and hopefully I will have my FIs by then for a little extra help.

Here we go. Let's go ahead and put it out there now. DRIVER'S RACE. BOTTOM LINE. A Camaro will not "crap all over you" in your Z.
I won't post them all here but feel free to look up the numbers obtained by your favorite magazine and you will see how close the numbers are. |

The SS has enough of an acceleration advantage over the Z to where the outcome would be clear with both drivers of the same competency level. In outright acceleration, as in from a 60 MPH roll, an SS should walk away from a Z. Their trap-speed advantage is evidence of that, on top of the huge discrepancy in 0-140+ acceleration. I am in no way "taking sides" with the Camaro. I've obviously made a choice of the Z over the Camaro for many...I'm just not blinded by my own bias. I'm a realist. |

This thread = fail.
I have given and received thumbs ups from guys in Challengers, Camaros, whatever. Enthusiasts show respect.

![]() To actually add some input, the Camaro is very popular, but I think currently your older generation is buying them up quickly. They want to re-live those days long ago and many have been waitin patiently for five(?) years for this car.

Come on guys...don't let your testerone get in the way. You're driving a "Z". The Camaro is pretty but like a mobile home - different paint scheme on the outside and a fancy interior - they are still just a Chevy. If they should challenge you just nod, look the other way and KNOW you're driving a Z. It's like a 4th Deg Black Belt facing a street punk. You can just look away knowing that "you're driving a 370Z". I'm a 3rd time Z owner and BTW I'm one of those Boomers living the memory but in a Z it's real. Not just looking over the long hood of a Chevy. I was going up the mountain recently and a Boxer almost ran off the road checking out my Platinum Graphite Z...it was a hoot.

I challenge someone to provide any evidence of a Z being faster than a Camaro SS on a road-course. I have not yet had both the Z and a Camaro SS on a track so I can not speak from personal experience, and neither can any of you. Show me some conclusive evidence of the Z out-performing cars on a track. Until then...the Motor Trend comparison stands, with the SS beating the NISMO around Laguna Seca by a second.
Oh yeah...this is just nonsensical magazine-racing. Let's just pretend the Z is faster because you say so.

keep in mind gentlemen that this isnt a Camaro vs. Mustang vs. 370Z thread, it was made out of curiosity to see if people were seeing an insane amount of Camaros on the roads nowadays, much like the Mustang.
