Nissan has a twin turbo v6 coming for the new q60 coupe that's been confirmed.

Its not a stretch to imagine it going into a Z

Infiniti Q60 Coupe Concept Photos and Info – News – Car and Driver

Quote:

The Q60 coupe shares its direct-injected, twin-turbocharged DOHC 3.0-liter V-6 with the saucy Q80 Inspiration concept, which Infiniti revealed at the Paris motor show last fall, although in this application it’s not supplemented by an electric motor. Mated here to a seven-speed automatic, this V-6 is part of a new line of lighter, smaller engines that will start spreading throughout Infiniti’s future lineup within two years, replacing the ancient 3.7-liter V-6. Infiniti is mum on output, but don’t be surprised if it makes somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 horsepower in the Q60.

Even Vw has a golf r coming out and Honda has a new civic si. There's a new Miata . New focus rs. So many segments Nissan is doing nothing in.

and from what reasoning are you basing this off of? nissan already put a TT V6 for the GTR, so i wouldn't rule out FI for future Z-series cars.

and again, from what reasoning are you basing about nissan getting "left behind"? you can't really compare a civic si and a Z, as they are worlds apart. coming from an FG2 07 Si (which btw isn't that much more different in terms of performance from the current Si), i can personally attest that they are completely in different classes.

nissan has a new 4 door sports car..

with a cvt...

:ugh:

with simulated AT gearbox shifting feel...

kenchan 06-25-2015 09:53 AM

lets make it automatic so you can feel like a f1 driver.

or better yet, lets make it seamlessly smooth so you can feel like a super good MT driver.

now let's add simulated gear box shock cause dat's sporty and makes u feel like a pos driver in a nissan sunny.

I thought the GTR was an inline six, at least it was a couple (?) years back...shows how much I know...

The Z is a niche market vehicle that probably doesn't make Nissan much, if any money.

Just enjoy the car you drive and try not to get all wrapped up in it. :driving:

The Z is completely cost effective @ 5,000 units a year. It has

Mass produced chassis
Mass produced transmission
Mass produced engine
Mass produced ecu
Mass produced intake plenum
Mass produced brakes

The most unique features of the Z is
The shell
The SRM feature on the manual
The interior bits

This is NOT a GTR running on a mass of exclusive parts.

It's a Frankenstein car from the infiniti bin.

Depends on what you're comparing it to. If you're looking at cars around the $30-40k range I don't think it's all that competitive. The Mustang and Camaro definitely out class the Z in terms of performance. When the 370Z was first released, it was competitive with those 2 cars. Both Ford and GM have updated them since then and left the Nissan behind because it failed to do the same.

This is the reason why I didn't even consider a Z for my next car purchase. If they had released one or confirmed any details that revealed it could be competitive with those cars soon I may have considered getting another one. I had decided on getting a 2016 5.0 earlier this year and then I started looking at used C7's. As soon as I test drove one, my mind was pretty much made up. Just placed an order for a 2016 C7 like 2 weeks ago and should be getting it delivered around late August. :excited:

My point still stands. Every car that poster mentioned except the miata is a mass-produced car meant to sell 100s of thousands. Stop taking it personal that Nissan is not making the car YOU want. It's a business meant to make $$$.

Like I said, just enjoy the car and stop worrying about it. :tiphat:

I'd love to take a test drive in a C7, but considering I couldn't even get the asshat salesman to let me drive a USED C6, it's pointless. :shakes head:

:iagree: and congrats on the C7 dude!!! that damn vette looks amazing... and trust me I love the new Mustang chassis especially the 5.0 Performance Package  I love my Z... but if that chassis arrive at the moment that i be thinking on buy my Z... the story was different loool!

b1adesofcha0s 06-25-2015 12:31 PM

Thanks guys, I can't wait till it's finally here. As far as getting a test drive in a Vette, I think you just gotta find the right dealer. First place I went to wouldn't let me test drive one either. I got lucky that my cousin works at CarMax and they just happened to get a used one in on their lot. Wasn't able to take it out for long, but it was more than enough to convince me it was the right car. Then when I pulled back into the lot, I realized that I had left it in Touring (Comfort) mode the whole time and it still impressed me :icon17:

Felt like driving a Z, but better in every way. I did test drive a 2015 5.0 earlier and loved it, but the size of the car did bug me a bit compared to the Z. That's why I started looking at Corvettes. Looks better inside/outside, drives better, and sounds much better than my Z. Probably why it costs twice as much :p

i guess if ure tracking these cars that would make sense.

another thing i dont understand are these cars and coffee get togethers. u guys just sit around talking/bragging about car specs while u could be driving around and enjoying them. maybe great for photographers and museum goers.

car clinics, DIY get togethers, i can understand.

I have tracked my Z twice and do plan on doing some light tracking on the C7 eventually. I do LOVE to do some spirited driving though. Only times I will go to C&C events now are with our local MAZOC group or one of the larger events in the area to see some new exotic car that I haven't seen in person before.

I test drive the vette and I'm crazy about it for a host of reasons I don't feel like writing out right now... But in short, as a street car. I still think the Z is still better suited. You get to 60 waaaaayyy too fast in the vette on the street and there's not as much drama that can be had on roads as with the Z. It must've hit 60 well under 4.0 seconds. But I came out of my test drive thinking. Maybe a Z06 as a dedicated track car? The vette was well behaved on the road and it's transitional ability was stupendous. The C7 fit and finish made the Z feel dated. I tested a black vette with red leather. Very nice car. Amazing experience. Getting on the highway Wowed me. That's where the vette took the Z out completely. Especially when I hit the donut exit. Wow... Loads of grip.

For us willing to spend over $70k. There are so many sports car options. Under $70k is starting to lose ground again like the 90's. It's gonna be Miatas and muscle, all over again.

same but I will add:

porsche caymen gts
the new audi TT looks soo promising
I test drove a c7, fun, ran into 3 on my test drive....ehhh....for the price of the c7 id rather get a gen 6 camaro and mod it.

A used Z06 is ALWAYS a great option.

i seriously dont think a c7 is that significant to have to call around so much for a test drive.. :ugh:

true, my bad haha. and really man? if sky was limit, you would only go for a $250k car? lol

if sky was limit for me, i'd get 3 GTR's: one for DD, second for garage-viewing/showcar, and last one for track purposes only.
