Default The 370Z Lag

After a few years of happy M3'ing - I thought I would get myself a 370Z for a change. Happyish with the car but the lag is terrible.

If you floor it and hit the biting point it seems like about 2 days before the car takes off - its the only thing that makes me miss the M3 which was instant.

Add to that it sounds like I'm flooring it in neutral scream type noise rather than a full on growl.

So would an upgraded exhaust sort this ? I have the OEM fitted at the mo - I know I won't be able to put up with this lag for long!

Tune for the throttle lag

Fast Intentions exhaust will address the sounds but won't do jack for throttle lag.

Are tunes expensive? I hate the lag on mines as well.

Still a noob. Go easy.

Pretty much start around $500 and go up depending on the tuner and dyno time. So it's not terrible. Plus a tune does a lot more than just fix throttle lag. It can actually increase power, especially with bolt-on mods.

There's a product called sprintbooster that may help you. But it doesn't really increase the actual performance of the car. It just boosts the voltage of the accelerator pedal signal to the ECU tricking it into thinking that you've pressed the pedal further than you actually have. So it solves the lag a bit without actually correcting the throttle tables in the ECU. At several hundred dollars for this product, I found a tune to be a much better use of my money.

I just went with the voltage multiplier myself.
Easy and fun. Not sure about fun working down there..

My G has instant throttle response. Another reason why I still have her after all these years.

I highly recommend a sprint booster or a tune. It eliminates the electronic throttle delay provided in the ECU.

Same thing I noticed. Coming from an M3 Evo when I lived back in the UK.
