What type of attention do you attract with your car?

So, most of you know that within a week of owning the car, a jackass almost ran me off the road causing me to get into an accident.

Fast forward to today, I was at a signal light, did not burn out or anything of the sort, shifted from first at around 3k, from 2nd around 3k or so...eventually going to 4th at around 40mph...

I'm accelerating past this Nissan Pathfinder, not being a douche or anything of the sort (slow pass at probably 40-45mph) - as I pass him up, I notice him flicking me off!! :icon14:

So, this has me concerned, am I getting the wrong type of attention with the car?? I have the Ark Grip V2s which are not even that loud!

This has led me to ask - what type of attention do you attract with your car? Thumbs up? flick offs? nothing?

:ugh2:

AggieDev 06-05-2015 02:10 PM

I've only had my Z for a month and haven't had any bad attention yet but maybe I'm just lucky, where do you live?

BC416 06-05-2015 02:10 PM

Damn dude, sorry to hear you haven't been having the nicest experiences so far with the Z. I haven't had anyone flip me off or anything like that. Mostly just thumbs ups, questions about the ride, compliments.

Z_ealot 06-05-2015 02:11 PM

Its a mixed bag, most people will stare but then you have those haters that are gonna do what ever they can to make your day that much worse just out of jealousy

Leingod 06-05-2015 02:14 PM

I have this wicked old dude that's a Dr who keeps pestering me about my Z's mods.

This other guy talks non-stop about his custom modded Lay-Z-Boy that he cleans more than motors.

Exhaust 06-05-2015 02:15 PM

Never thought I'd be the guy to say this, but I have 3 different occasions or girls acting crazy at stop lights. Then I get stares and a bunch of guys trying to be ********. One truck being a ****, then just ricer flybys by acura TL's or being 'chased' by some ricers. I believe my young age contributes to this though(23).

madwi 06-05-2015 02:15 PM

Occasionally someone will walk up to me while pumping gas and shoot the breeze for a few minutes. No hate so far.

I love my lazyboy :icon23:

I create my own scenes....I get it all from being paced to stares to thumbs up to people wanting/trying to hate. My Z has a name and its RUDE!

JC-Nismo 06-05-2015 02:18 PM

No stock car is visually appealing to me and the Z is no exception, but a Z with lowered suspension and a set of bad *** wheels is probably dollar for dollar the best looking sports car once it's modded. I get it everywhere every time I drive it which is a bit of a surprise because my SRT and M3 never got this much attention and there modded as well. All positive though so no complaints here.

I hope you're not new to Austin. This is usually the norm around here. I've gotten some waves, some "awesome Z" comments at lights, and some random bikers giving me thumbs up on 45. Those are few and far between though.

cranzy 06-05-2015 02:36 PM

I've had the TOMEI EX TI for day and half, and already I can see people giving me the stares when I accelerate. It can get loud if I punch it, but I love the sound :p

Here in NY, if it's not a MOOstang, CamARROW, or Yvette, people don't care or frown. Only 1 other guy owns a Z in my city.

typically mine come when downshifting at red lights and people have their windows open.

I guess a straight piped Z isn't everyone's favorite. :bowrofl:

NRTim 06-05-2015 02:43 PM

I don't own a Z but after living in Texas for over a decade, I observed most of the Mustang owners and bro trucks with the annoying loud exhaust annoy people on the road.

mishuko 06-05-2015 03:39 PM

Ah my bad! I am moving there in a few months so I guess it made sense when I registered a few weeks ago. Although this whole thread is making me not looking forward to the move :eekdance:

Other than sitting in traffic for a while, it's not terrible. Jackas$ drivers are everywhere, not just here. You'll be OK.

Well...3 pages in a few hours...that escalated quickly :D

yeah, Ive noticed the crazies in austin but usually, they don't come my way. They are far away as I'm driving in the distance but I guess the Z is attracting that type of attention >_<

Glad I have a dash cam now.

scope22 06-05-2015 06:05 PM

Some kids where driving by in a bmw and told me to **** myself....no clue who they were...
A few chicks started a conversation with 'like your car'
Every brz/frs wants to race

Z-Girl 12 06-05-2015 06:56 PM

No haters...i gets lots more digits from guys in the Z than I did in my G. Pumping gas people come over and start conversation very often, sometime annoying when I'm in a rush. What is is? Is it fast? Arrrrrggghhhh sometimes before they start I just say it is just a nissan and it is not nearly as fast as it looks but it's fun to drive. That is how I sum it up when they look like they are going to be annoying. But I love my Lil boy!!!

Kayzee 06-05-2015 07:00 PM

This is quite shocking to read but I get almost zero, absolutely zero, attention in my Z.

Once in a blue moon another enthusiast, but from day to day people? Maybe a look or two. Nothing more than that.

My s2k got considerably more looks and attention than the Z does.

3.7 ZPA 06-05-2015 07:02 PM

I've never had anyone tell me to go fvck myself just because of the car I drive. I live in Westcehster, NY, so most people don't even bat an eye. Nothing but nice comments, so far. I did have this GORGEOUS woman tell me "nice car" a couple of weeks ago as I was getting out of it to go to the bank. Of course, I'm no longer singe, so I just smiled, and said "thanks.":shakes head:

night blade 06-05-2015 07:12 PM

Had my Z for about 1.5 months now, gets lots of attention where I am since there's not many Z's here in the GTA (greater toronto area) and definitely not any in my neck of the GTA. Mostly stares, once to the point of almost causing an accident on the highway, guy stared at it until he almost hit me ;). All good though, most just say it's a beautiful car and want to know the details.

Spooler 06-05-2015 08:19 PM

Had another person with Minivan syndrome today. For some reason they had to fly by me on the interstate in the right lane a 100+mph. No idea why, in a minivan of all things. My car wiggled due to that big brick they drove by me.
