one time a dog chased my z.. :ugh:

Spooler 06-09-2015 11:06 AM

Just had a car pass me on the interstate with a bunch of smiles, stares, and thumbs up. LOL I couldn't help myself, I figured I would make there day and come around them up in the RPM range. They caught back up with me and had a fit about it. Too Funny. FI exhaust sounds so good at 7K.

Interesting thread!

I live in Vancouver, where there are a lot of fairly well off people, and especially immigrant Chinese with a fair bit of disposable cash, so there are quite a lot of nice cars, mostly German sport sedans. Specifically, I live in Yaletown, which is a small area of downtown where the nouveau-riche, douchebag, more money than class tend to reside. There are nice cars EVERYWHERE. The BMW 3 series is the Toyota Corolla of Yaletown. So in Vancouver, I don't get a lot of attention. It's just "there goes another sporty car".

But I took the Z up to the interior a few hours away, to my home town of 80,000 people where I grew up (Kamloops, BC), and I got stares CONSTANTLY. Even though half the people there had trucks worth twice what my 2009 Z cost me, people looked at me as I drove by like "who the hell is THIS guy?" It was pretty funny. I was so used to not getting attention that I forgot that a sport car can actually be considered *rare*. I was kind of like "is there something on my face??" Most of the people there who want a fast car will just buy a Mustang. If they really make it in life, they might buy a Corvette. So it definitely felt like I stuck out!

I forgot to post in here, but actually got a thumbs up for my car.....

......from an 8 year old >_<

2009_370z 08-12-2015 03:36 PM

I just like the fact that there "aren't" to many 370z's on the road. Now 350s and G35s.. that's a different story LOL.

I typically have the local rednecks try to race me on the freeway in their huge trucks. It's honestly the most infuriating thing to have people passing me on the freeway in their Dodge Rams and F350s going 100+ just because I passed them going the speed limit.

On a lighter note I have had some kids hang their heads out of windows and stare at my car at stop lights I always love that.

darkphantom 08-12-2015 04:22 PM

I think I see 1-2 Zs a week...not many around here.

:iagree: It's happened to me a couple of times as well. Kids really do appreciate the car a lot more.

Voice59 08-12-2015 04:30 PM

On occasion I've had people taking pictures in front of my car while I was in a restaurant. Or the thumbs up. People yelling "nice car". No matter what speed I'm going people want to race me. Any car that "is fast" will come up on my bumper and pretty much ride my tail until I speed up.

I've noticed that too! It's really weird. My wheels aren't stock but they're either looking at my wheels, brakes or fenders. Almost every time I'm stopped at a light and someone looks, they're staring at that area. Hmm..

Same here. I don't even average 1 a week.

ZinEU 08-12-2015 05:39 PM

Driving a Z here in Germany is like driving a supercar...or at least I feel that way lol. I guess these are more rare than porches out here! Craziest was when I came out the movies and saw a group of high school kids taking pics with it. Funny thing is I've only got a sport touring lowered on swifts and 20mm on all 4 :)

acelesson 08-12-2015 08:57 PM

dont get much attention around here with mine. I think people just dont care or something

from_a_G 08-13-2015 09:32 AM

i got 1 thumbs up on the highway an hour into picking up the z (i live 2 hours away from the dealership) and yesterday as i was dropping my girlfriend off, these youngsters just stared at my car with their jaws dropped... no bad experience so far.

HulaGirl 08-13-2015 10:55 AM

I stopped for gas this morning and the young man, before asking about the type of gasoline I wanted, said "You've got a beast of a car". :-) We chatted just a moment and he was excited to be looking at a Mustang for himself this coming weekend.

Fast forward to today, I was at a signal light, did not burn out or anything of the sort, shifted from first at around 3k, from 2nd around 3k or so...eventually going to 4th at around 40mph...

I'm accelerating past this Nissan Pathfinder, not being a douche or anything of the sort (slow pass at probably 40-45mph) - as I pass him up, I notice him flicking me off!! :icon14:

So, this has me concerned, am I getting the wrong type of attention with the car?? I have the Ark Grip V2s which are not even that loud!

This has led me to ask - what type of attention do you attract with your car? Thumbs up? flick offs? nothing?

:ugh2:

I usually get a lot of thumbs up and uncalled for challengers who think I'm trying to show them up or race when I'm just casually driving.

Also unwanted attention from the police, especially when entering the freeway. I've had cops pull up kissing my *** and driving at my speed after catching up with traffic due to the exhaust and they just give me a death stare lol.

lol yesterday this rc-f was flying because i decided to close the gap so he kept making more space.

on the off ramp he was slowing down and i got right up in his grill =P takes the finesse.

oh and this morning this bmw 650 thoguht i was trying to 'race' him but i was trying to prevent this stupid cabbie from doing a douche move of trying to pass on the right hand when a car was parked after the light. :ugh2:

Spooler 08-13-2015 07:22 PM

Integra thought he was racing me today and blew by with the loud fart can. I was just cruising down the road at 45mph. Go figure. Getting on an on ramp just a few minutes later, a guy in a older Chevy pickup was trying to keep up in a sharp turn. I have no idea how he held it on the road. I was just jumping on the interstate and happen to look in my mirror. I just had new tires put on, no way was I going crazy fast. The tires still had the sealer on them. That would have been a disaster waiting to happen.

Yeah I got the "sir you have a beautiful car!" from a kid while I was waiting to make a left in our neighborhood.

I suppose kids, and most people are bored of seeing either SUV's/Crossovers/4 door family sedans over and over and over... especially in Oregon!

Cheers to that lad!
I've noticed the kids get hyped up most :) I like to give them a show every now and then.

I remember when I was young I'd see sports cars and always give the owners thumbs up and they'd just ignore me, so I'd like to change that haha.

Got pulled over by an undercover just for him to give me a compliment LOL! I wonder if he'd get in trouble for that... Also got a compliment by some guy in a Audi Q7

DeliriousClam 08-17-2015 07:41 PM

I get "hey kid go give your father his car back" a lot.

2015nismo 08-18-2015 09:43 AM

I usually get compliments, one time a guy in a 40th waved me down at a light and said the 15 Nismo's look better in person for sure lol.

But.. unfortunately I also get the guys in Toyota Camry's and Ford Fusion's flying from 10 miles behind me to hover over my rear bumper.. only to pass me at and look back like.. your car ain't fast bro! (it's always guys)

P's_Z 08-18-2015 08:49 PM

The good: people rolling the windows down to say how beautiful the car is
The bad: no looks or thumbs up from most Z owners :ugh2:
The ugly: kia rios and beat up civics trying to race me :shakes head:

Done that on the interstate. His head was hanging out the window when I was done.....LOL All Smiles in the whole car, MOM included.

This car just gets too much attention. It is the one thing that I don't like about the Z. Especially in the big city, drawing attention to yourself is not a good thing. I've actually thought about trading the car on this issue alone. The car is a blast to drive though and that balances it out. At least I know, that even if I could afford a Ferrari I would never buy one...too much attention. I'm trying to think of something more stealthy, but still fun. I had a Bimmer 3 series which was a good alternative, but the damn thing was a piece of crap. Now I don't trust the so called great German engineering so Mercedes and Audi are out as well.

The car gets so much attention you have considering trading it and you had a BMW 3 series you didn't like so all German cars are not good enough.

Holy hyperbole, Batman!

2009_370z 08-19-2015 06:11 PM

Ever have someone whistle at you at a red light :ugh2:?

So awkward.. I'm in the Z with my friend and were talking and I hear a noise but I ignore it and then this guy yells at me from behind me on the left side saying, "hey I like your set up." LOL.

Thanks bro.

Got the "you have a cute car" comment, from a female co-worker today. That's a compliment right?

Darketch 08-20-2015 09:33 PM

Ever since Nissan ran those Altima race car commercials, Altimas keep racing at me. I don't race, but it's pure joy to get up to the speed limit as fast as I can.

Everywhere I go, everyone is looking at my Z. Every sports car revs (which I take that as a compliment because our cars just look aggressive). I've had ladies blow kisses and one even asked if I was married.

I didn't consider this before I bought my Z, and don't mind it most of the time...BUT I get very nervous about where I park and like to be able to see my car when I go someplace in the city.. Sometimes I'm shopping and feel the urge to go check on my car. It's the attention that u don't want if u know what I mean sometimes.

Exhaust 08-21-2015 10:39 AM

Recently I've discovered challengers love to rev at stop lights next to me.

kenchan 08-21-2015 11:30 AM

a bee took a crap on my Z's hood while parked inside my garage.

TN.Z 08-21-2015 11:33 AM

I had two random guys stop and talk to me last night while my wife was picking up her phone (she left it in a restaurant ) but one guy asked me, "what nationality are you?" I replied American, the guy responded, "Are you a tuner or a ricer?" I was a little confused and just said tuner, the other guy with him said, "See?" then said, "Nice car man," while the first guy said, "No you're a ricer" and walked off.

To clarify to you guys the only modifications I have to my Z are tinted windows, K&N drop ins HPS tubes and a Berk CBE.

Apparently driving any import in the Southern states still makes you a ricer to the hardcore rednecks.

Oh well, the other guy liked the car and gave a thumbs up as I drove off since the Berk CBE sounds amazing.

kenchan 08-21-2015 11:40 AM

welcome to america

kenchan 08-21-2015 11:46 AM

honestly speaking, most people gravitate more towards my modded G than my Z.

when i was working on PDR'ing my dd's due to a hail storm a few weeks back, i had the G parked on the driveway. people stopped by even taking pictures of my ride complimenting me, etc.

no comment on my Z. :ugh:

Yes, any muscle car. Over here in the bay area, they're are SO many mustangs, camaros and challengers. It's ridiculous how many there are lol. One thing I love about the 370z is that you won't see many out there so I somewhat feel like I have a rare car haha..

Oh. And I hate driving near Altimas. Those commercials on TV insprire those drivers a little bit too much.
