It is, winter tires makes all the difference. I've put on 10's of thousands of miles in the winter in the rocky mountains with out a problem, people just need to learn to drive their cars, both FWD and RWD Hell even the 4X4 crowd. I see more 4x4's in the ditches here in the winter then anything else.

many people with 4x4 and awd think they become instant gods because they have power to all 4 wheels. it just means they can speed into that guard rail faster in the snow

i find that the majority of the 'in-the-ditch' moments are the SUV's like the rx350, mdx/rdx, x3 etc etc. the laws of physics are not kind to those kinds of drivers.
