Default 2009 370z

Hello everyone,

I will be purchasing a 370z soon and would like to know if there's any draw back in the variation of the years. I currently own a 08 six speed 350z grand touring and from that I know that the 03-06 was the de motor and 07-08 was the HR Motor which has fewer problems and a little bit more horse. Does that apply to the 370z as well? I'm debating now towards a 2009 six speed 370z and a 2014 370z. if there is really no variation than I will probably get the 2009 which is 3 grand cheaper. please list any cons & pros for someone that will be purchasing a 370z.

Thank You

for only 3g more i would get the 2014. it's newer and less of a chance that someone has abused it.

The 09 has about 16,000 mile On it. Still pretty good if you ask me. The reason why I'm more towards the 09 now (I wanted the 14 previously) is because I'm trading in my 08 350z which still has a loan on it. For sure I already know I'm going to be upside down on the valuation which in term will add more money to the newer z that I initially want. The amt on the 14 z is $25,900. Not bad but danm. I guess I'll try to negotiate with the dealer to see what happen. I love that 14 pearl white 370z though. Danm sexy

Yup, if you can swing it, the 2014. Five years, even if it only has 16K is time on the vehicle. Seals, bushings, fluids etc. Course it does depend on how many miles the 2014 has and if it was taken care of.

OP, i traded my 07 350Z 6mt for an 09 370Z about 3 months ago. despite what others say about common issues, IMO every car is different. for example, there was an open recall on my 07 350Z, but never got it fixed and never had any issues. likewise, my 09 370Z runs like a champ. 16k miles for an 09 is way low miles, and if you know you will be carrying negative equity into the new loan, i would go with the 09.

Go with the 14 for the extra 3k if it's in good condition. You are still well within Bumper to Bumper warranty on the 14 which is always nice to have. No steering lock issues either.

Imo i would test drive both and see what kind of deal you can work out on both of them, speaking from the experience of just picking up a high mileage 09 Z myself, there really isnt much that can go wrong with these cars aside from the problems that have been talked about on these forums plus the regular wear and tear items like clutches and fluids and such. Just be prepared on the 09 to be going through it and doing all the maintenance on it that should have been done by the previous owner, but wasn't. Other than that, for the most part the 370Z seems to hold up quite nicely as far as the mechanical and electronics go.

I would just keep the 350z if it's mechanically ok. Save the money for rainy days or wait til next gen Z comes out. The prices of 370z right now are dropping like flies. Saw a brand new base sell for 27k

Owner probably lived 30 miles south of you. Those accumulated summer driving days really take their toll.

In order to answer your questions, you need to provide more info about these cars - mileages, options, condition etc...

$3k seems very reasonable for a 5 years newer car with warranty assuming all is similar.

Another point is that if you are already max'ed out on the 09 model financially, then it is a mull point.
