Thats not good - How many miles do you have on the car? Do you clutch in all the way for your shifts?

Can you describe the sound? Mine also makes a vibrating sound at rpm higher than 4-5000 even with the clutch pushed in. It's more like the sound of quickly tapping of something plastic or rubber against metal.

No no, it's the shifter. I'm very sure of it. The sound comes from somewhere near the base of the shifter, and it sounds as if something plastic is loose and is vibrating against the metal shaft of the shifter. I'd love to take the shifter apart and take a look at it but I read horror stories about attempting to unscrew the shift knob
