370z acceleration - Just as fast as the big 3 pony cars?

Ha ha. No mullet here guys. My 60fts are 1.7 to 1.9 and I have to run slicks to get it to stick. Its rated at 485hp and 475 ft

Ha ha. No mullet here guys. My 60fts are 1.7 to 1.9 and I have to run slicks to get it to stick. Its rated at 485hp and 475 ft lbs of torque off the show room floor. I have only added a K&N Typhoon to the car and thats it. Then of course the next model up and thats the Hellcat and holy bejesus those cars hit low 11's or high 10's stock.
I sure do miss my Z at times but with the power, comfort, and room you cant beat it. If handling isnt a big issue for you check one of them out. Once you test drive one its all over and you more than likely drive it home. Im very pleased with my Scat Pack. She is a big girl tho.

Some guys on the Dodge forum claiming low 10's with slicks in the Hellcat. Like real low-10.1 at 139+

On Motor Trend's Ignition series, Carlos Lago clocked a 2012 sports package with stock tires with a manual transmission at 4.8s. I think it's just hard to replicate in the manual Z due to the transmission.

Back in 09 when the 370 came out it was whooping the pony cars pretty easily. Fast forward seven years and its not the case.

I was waiting for the next gen Z with better performance but it looks like Nissan has lost sight on it focusing more on the GTR. I would love to see the Z up their game and would be hilarious beating a pony car.

Definitely a different kind of crowd to be around for sure especially these Mopar nuts but in reality I love all sports cars and the Z was a gem of a car. I just got tired of falling in, climbing out, banging my head, and road noise. Getting older didnt help matters either!

Exactly. And skidpad performance is not a very good indication of overall handling. Not every corner is constant radius, and transitions really show how balanced a car's handling is. That is where pony cars fall behind real sports cars. Driving is much more than pinning the gas pedal to the floor.

Yes sir just posting specs is all in comparison to the heavyweight Challenger. I never said it would hang with the Z in which I do know it cant on a tight course.
Im not here to start a heated topic but the pony cars in overall performance far exceeds the Z. It needs to be updated badly.
I will bow out and move on. You guys take care and I had a great time being a part of this forum.

He's got a point here. The new muscle cars (well, the new mustang and camaro) are nothing to laugh at. Those cars CAN handle these days. Seriously, there is a lot of misconception regarding these cars, comparing them to their old generations. It's a night and day difference these days.

I can't speak for the challenger, although, I assume nothing has changed with it since it was re-released. It is heavy and wasn't made to handle, but there might be some variants of it better suited than others. I've heard the new Charger is nothing to laugh at. Call it bench racing all you want, but the American automakers have realized what it takes to be competitive these days and they are building some impressive cars.

I literally got done talking to my co-workers about American Muscle being THE best bang for the buck in the world right now. Killing it.

I'm not calling it bench racing because it's American Muscle, I'm calling it bench racing because it's bench racing.

The new Mustang is a great car, I'm happy Ford finally decided to try putting a modern suspension under their sports coupe, they did a great job with it. It's pretty soft and cushy when you push it, though, and the steering is still a lot slower than I'd like to see in a proper sports coupe. I could live with the steering, and I suppose springs/struts and sway bars aren't an outrageous thought. Plus, unlike the Z, the stability assistance actually lets you have a little fun before it goes into full nanny mode. The transmission shifs nicely, the Coyote V8 sounds sweet at redline, pedal position is great for heel-and-toe, it's actually a really good driver's car.

I have not driven a Camaro but I would like to, and I would probably buy one if the legendary visibility issues are really no worse than the Z.

As for the Dodge... No thanks. The quality issues are more than enough to make me not even care if they did handle, and the skidpad number doesn't tell you much at all about how the car handles at all.
