Default Hit and Run Questions. Looking for advice.

Hi everyone,

I posted about me being involved in a hit and run on my Z, me being the victim. Long story short, I got hit and now I want to claim my insurance. I have no idea how to start. My car has full coverage or so they said but as I reviewed my policy I'm unsure. Is there anyone here that has knowledge in this area? Attached is my policy info. Vehicle 1 is my Z and Vehicle 2 is my DD. I live in California if that helps.

I want to know if based on my policy they will pay for my damages for hit and run. Will claiming insurance and fixing my car report my car in being salvage title? Will it go on carfax record?

Insurance Policy: http://imgur.com/gi9yvFa

Thanks.
PS: I'm glad i found this forum, you guys are like my senpais

File a police report.
Call your insurance company and tell them exactly what happen.

I've read that in california insurance covers hit and run under UMPD or (UM Property Damage) and that if the insurance offers UMBI or (UM Bodily Injury), it doesn't offer UMPD. I was told that I'm fully covered with my policy by the agent there but on paper it seems UMPD is left blank so what does that mean? I find that if I ask now and then claim it immediately it sounds like fraud and if they say I'm not covered I want to update it and be covered and not screwed by that agent that lied to me.

sorry to hear. call your agent and let him/her know wat happened. then they will give you a number to call to officially file the claim and setup a time for repair estimate at either their claims center or body shop.

it's not hard to do, ive done it so many times it's just a pita more than anything. dont get nervous, it's just a f-king part of car life.

should be covered under comprehensive.

Yes full coverage insurance will cover hit and runs. I'm not sure if they will put it under comp or collision tho. We're you driving when it happened?

In your case, I believe that hit and run accidents are viewed as uninsured motor vehicle and since you have collision insurance coverage, you are covered under that coverage. Plus, since you purchased the collision deductible waiver, you do not need to pay the $500 collision deductible.

I don't get what this means. Does this mean I ring them up and they do everything from a to z and it won't cost me a dime? I was told that I need to pay the $500 bucks then insurance company pays the rest.

Usually, in every full coverage policy there is some sort of deductible the insurer pays. The higher the deductible, the lower the insurance premium. Since hit and runs are looked at as UM and you have collision coverage, both come in place in your case. You collision includes a $500 deductible, but since you have the UM collision waiver, you should not be required to pay the first $500 of the repair out of your pocket.

I'm not a California insurance agent, but by looking at your policy, this is my take.

Are you sure it won't be a claim against collision, subject to your deductible?
