I dont know about the 370Z. But I went 188 mph in my 450z and my Flux capacitor kicked in. What year is this?

pennjeweler 11-17-2009 08:36 PM

Had my 370 to about 105 in a short burst on my back road. I was cleaning out my garage tonite and found an old issue of Road & Track. Here is something you "youngsters" my find interesting in just how far car performance has come since 1978. here are some 0-60 times for "sports cars" back then.
Austin Martin V-8 7.4, Bmw 733i 8.6, Datsun 380z 9.4, Ferrari 308GTB 9.4, FERRARI 512 Berlinetta Boxter 5.2, Mustang V-8 10.4, LAMBORGHINI COUNTATCH 6.8, Loutus Esprit 9.2, Trans Am 8.4, PORSCHE TURBO 5.0, WOW those were the days ! Lol.

LOL, reminds me of the time years ago in my RX-3 when I passed a CT statie at an indicated 125 on I-95 at 1:30 am. I was the only car on the road for as far as the eye could see. I figured what the hell and put pedal to the metal, saw him just starting to get onto the highway when I was already getting off at the next exit, blew through 2 green lights, made a quick left and never saw him again

370zproject 11-18-2009 01:34 PM

125 at the track :) ran outta road >.>

I've done 150 in my rsx type-s, and 90 in a 370z(test drive), I'll be picking one up in march, can't wait

BennytheBlade 11-28-2009 07:42 AM

132. Just passed break in.

BennytheBlade 12-11-2010 04:26 PM

152. Gps verified. Speedo appears pretty accurate.

ImportConvert 12-11-2010 05:34 PM

Around 110 or so. Wasn't mine, though.

No one is is apologizing for anything. Agreeing with Earwicker that driving at 160 on a public road is irresponsible isn't the same thing as apologizing for it. Let me put it this way. I've done irresponsible things from time to time in the past, and I can pretty much guarantee that I will do irresponsible things in the future as well. Why? Because I'm human, and like all humans, I can be an a$$ every once in a while and do things that are selfish and show a lack of good judgment. So I admit it -- like everyone else on the planet, I can behave irresponsibly every now and then. But that's not an apology. If anything, it's just an admission that I'm human and I'm flawed and imperfect like everyone else.

Now, having said all that, let's be honest with ourselves about driving fast. Presumably, most if not all of us on this forum like to drive fast, at least on occasion. That's why we're owners and fans of the Z. I have nothing against driving fast, obviously, but we need to be honest enough to acknowledge that when we put the foot to the floor on public roads, we're not just making the choice to increase our own risk, we're also increasing the risk of those around us -- and we're not giving them a vote on the issue. It would be delusional to believe that we're only increasing our own risk and not anyone else's. To be clear, I'm not trying to suggest that we should all repent and change our ways and vow to never speed again. Heck, that's certainly not a vow that I'm willing to make. I'm just saying that Earwicker is right when he reminds us that it's not all about us. We're not the only ones on the road. So when we make the choice to have a little fun and drive at speeds that are well in excess of those around us, we do need to be mindful that we are putting others at risk in addition to ourselves. In the end, it's about balance. We should strive to balance our need for speed with the rights of other motorists to drive in peace as best possible.

And that's just an opinion, not an apology. ;)

+1

That is why I only play when there are no-other cars that I could be passing and no way for a car to get into the area (i.e. long bridges, open highway with no side-roads that have cleared shoulders, etc.). That way--it IS only you that is at risk, unless someone is racing you, and that implies that they are okay with the additional risk as well.

plato 12-11-2010 05:53 PM

I made it to a little over 125 on the highway at 5 am. I was using my paddle shifters and had it at 6.

SGTBdizzle 12-11-2010 06:29 PM

The push

I was doing 159 at least that's what the GPS said dash said 155 give or take but i know we can do better....

ProfessorDave 12-11-2010 07:12 PM

The OP's question is missing a comma. I believe the question is supposed to be" What is the fastest you have had your Z, too?". This implies that a comparison is being made, either to the OP personally, or to your own experience with speed in other cars.

I put forth that this is a trick question. We have no way of knowing how fast the OP has gone in all the cars he has owned. It is also unlikely that any of us has traveled at exactly the same speed, at the peak speed, for any of the cars we have owned. Furthermore, some measurements are inaccurate. I went very fast as a "yout" in a 68 Pontiac LeMans (350, 4 spd, 4 barrel Rochester carb, ram air, 3/4 racing cam), but the speedometer was buried. I have no idea how fast I was going. Therefore, I suggest the questions is unanswerable.

sonic370 12-11-2010 08:05 PM

as one wise man once said "better to have it and not need it" "than need it and not have it" what the hell 100. but just knowing it will go 150 is good enough for me.

I'm pretty sure I hit the soft limiter. Out here in Korea there is a new highway that is not well known so it is almost always empty. It's nice with new asphalt and about 5-6 lanes on each side. In Korea there is speed enforcement but it is only done by cameras which are well marked and even come up on your GPS. (They beep until you slow down).

Truthfully I stop looking at the speedo and pay more attention to the road. Even though the road is clear I don't want to risk hitting an object and killing myself.

2004YZFR1 12-11-2010 09:00 PM

I had mine up to 135 140 right in there. It was kinda windy out and it felt a little nervous to me so I backed it down. Now on my bikes I will top them out at 186 or a little more and it feels super planted. I would rather go fast on a new sport bike than in our cars. I raced for seven years so I have alot more confidence in riding a bike fast versus a car. These cars are very fast though that's for sure.

What the Z needs at the higher speeds is down force and proper suspension.
Once your start going above 130 the suspension is off and you need down force to push the a$$ down.

antivirus6613 12-11-2010 09:38 PM

155

ThoriumHotdog 02-14-2011 03:49 PM

I was going to start a thread like this... but for all cars. :)

I hit 130 in my lil Prelude.
120 in my lil CRX.

I'll post my Z times when I get there. :)

(btw, this was not done on a public road)

kenchan 02-14-2011 03:50 PM

55mph...

xiven 02-14-2011 03:52 PM

I only go the posted speed limit. :ugh2:

Cmike2780 02-14-2011 03:59 PM

I usually follow the speed limit, but how tempted would you be on a road like this?

Once I put in a flux-capacitor I could not go any faster again. :( Doc said I might change the past and rewrite history or some stupid sh1t.

Michael J. Fox almost banged his own mom in the past. We can't repeat that mistake again, or everybody would get Parkinson's.

Too soon?

LoLz, nope, just in time.

My 370z: 95mph, on a on ramp accerating

My Old 350z: 152mph, fastest I have ever gone in any car Ive owned.

b1adesofcha0s 02-14-2011 06:52 PM

110. It was the day after I bought my 370Z and did not realize how quick it actually was. I looked down at the speedo and quickly slowed down. I would like to go faster, but only some where on a track or something.
